If I am the Ukraine I would not give the Russians a big armor on armor battle, rather use small teams armed with lots of anti armor stuff to roam the countryside attacking the flanks....this would force the Russians to slow down and spread out. Javelins are anti air capable against copters too....

The real question is does NATO or other nations send troops and equipment into western Ukraine to create a pocket that would require Russian forces to engage NATO forces to take. Allowing space for Ukrainian refugees and a way for real aid to get to them etc.

We've made it pretty clear that Ukraine is on its own. Don't really see where we would send in NATO troops under any circumstances at this point.

Yeah the US and other big NATO nations wont send troops, bottom line is the big NATO countries cant risk getting into a shooting conflict with Russia there is simply to much at stake. If Poland, Romania, and the Baltics setup a zone in western Ukraine and Russia and them get into it it would not be the same as Putin invading and fighting NATO forces in NATO countries. So it would not automatically trip the defense clause of NATO though those forces would be heavily armed with US/UK and top line equipment etc. The Ukraine is very important to Poland and I could see how if things go poorly these countries attempt to setup a line in the sand and try to keep at least part of Ukraine free from Putin.
