It’s pretty early for these temps to be dropping like this... sun still up too..

Webb, you cut my house in to.. The 0.2-0.33/0.1-0.2 splits my house! lol Currently 31.3/30
 
Several 0.2" ice reports already from earlier today near the VA border, which is why I went pretty high on the ice totals up here, although I'll admit, I might be a little conservative setting the ceiling at 0.5" up this way. I'm sure these locations have only added to these numbers since then given the persistent freezing drizzle/mist we've seen today in much of the N piedmont.

That’s cool how UHI works, the more outskirt areas are getting readings around 34, was 33.9 so went up .1 (2 stations next to each other and close to me) UHI truly does help keep things warmer during ice events CEA45EB9-5E59-4912-BEE2-50A24A8A8C45.png6909B68B-AE91-4CD5-B599-27DEBECB095F.png

I’m basically in the Quay, good to see temp sensor is on par with others.

Starting to teeter on being a weenie and filling gas tanks for the generator.

best case for me is I wake up to shear darkness and it looks like Elsa herself was in the neighborhood. Head down to the garage and crank up the genny, watch blue smoke sputter out of it as it comes alive. Plug in the fridge, coffee maker and modem and live my best life.
 
These little ticks mean big things, even the HRRR is adjusting a tad, it’s very subtle but damn it’s adding insult to injury F753DD3F-70BF-49AF-9AA4-11EA595326CA.gif
 
I’m going to take a gamble by saying freezing rain makes it all the way to Charlotte tonight. Obviously, nothing significant there at all, maybe a light glaze. We gotta think, there is snowpack right up the road in VA, I mean literally like in some cases depending on location, 50-150 miles North. That’s going to amplify the cold air in this CAD.
