Wintry Winter 2017-18 discussion

I know it is only July, but hey it is never too early to discuss winter.
Don't worry, the other board is already at it too, and other ones have been discussing it for months already.

I would be reading what Webber and Larry are putting out in the ENSO thread, as what it and other patterns ultimately end up as will dictate the base of what could occur this winter.

JB says blockbuster snow and cold for Eastcoast! He's using his Guinea pigs!

Thanks for opening this tread, gives me something to look forward to.

Looking forward to this years discussion. Haven't seen measurable snow since February 2014. Been in these long droughts lately. 2011-2014 and now 2014-2018. Hopefully this year will be a great one like 2014 was!

Agreed! That year spoiled me, I thought it was the start of a new trend but since then, like yourself I haven't seen a flake! There has been some snow and freezing near Atlanta but I'm south of there and I have had absolutely nothing.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind down the road, have to keep an eye on solar proton events (SPE) and Coronal Mass Ejections going into the latter portions of this upcoming fall and winter because they're usually followed by large +NAM (+AO/NAO) stints...

I just hope we have a winter lmao. Been a rough couple of years(although we did have an hour of snow on the ground this year at least)

i think this year will be a better one for us for winter.

The inner weenie part of me would certainly be content if we saw another warm neutral ENSO repeat like 1935-36 this year... One can hope right?

I see during the Feb. 21-22 storm some of Shane's ancestors were visiting Nash County, if you're not familiar with the counties of NC it's the donut hole in the eastern part surrounded by the 4-5 in totals Lol

Wow honestly I'd be pissed if I had a foot of snow on each side of me like that.... that sucked! Lol
