So if a vaccine comes out early November are you taking it? If yes/no why?

I probably wouldn't. I'd be okay with it if it's the timeline I've been thinking for months (which was next spring) but early November would raise my eyebrows.

Unless I have to for the program I'm currently in, then that'd be a different story.

I'm hoping I'm not coming down with something now. I was telling my parents I was feeling a little bit rough, but we all passed it off as my schedule changing, but tonight it's been rougher than it has been. It's still not something that's very noticeable, but it's there.

How long would you wait

I’m a bit concerned that it is being rushed for political purposes and without Fauci’s blessing. I’ll see what he says about it. I thought he said a safe one couldn’t be ready that fast.

Lately he's said that a vaccine "may come sooner than everyone thinks" but November just raises my eyebrows.

Personally, I think the November 1st thing I've seen could even be just beginning to build to prepare for vaccinations.

Yea thats how I feel too. Hesitant to take such a rushed vaccine (especially for my kids). I'm sure alot of people feel the same and the participation will be low enough to make one that is even 70% effective useless.

Vidant health here continues to see a spike in hospitalizations. Was down to 81 back 10 days ago or so but now up to 119. I believe this is their highest number yet.

With how many don’t get the flu shot ? I would expect a far greater amount to never get the corona shot (until President and famous people do first)

Im more convinced now than ever before that there was alot missed from early on in regards to like 40%+ of us having pre existing antibidies that prevent us from contracting or even knowing we have corono. In addition a few months ago several well known epidemiologists Stated that this was a one wave deal and what would happen is it would become more contagious at the expense of becoming less lethal and burn itself out. Thats clearly happening, we dont see hospitals being over ran an death rates are dropping off a cliff.

My brother has tested positive for Covid. He lives in Cleburne county which is the same as my brother in law who had it two weeks ago and works at the same factory as him as well. His wife also works there and she was Covid positive the same time as my brother in law was.

As of yesterday his symptoms are just no taste or smell.

Sweden still kind of puzzles me. They took less measures than most nations, and got a lot of flack for it, but they still have a lower per capita death rate than a lot of Western European nations and the USA, and now cases and deaths have plummeted to very low levels and things are more or less returning to normal. Was there a high precedence of T-cell immunity to prior coronaviruses there or something?

And, yes, they did have a significantly higher death rate than their neighbors, but the apocalyptic predictions did not come true. Of course, the idea that they had zero restrictions is also not accurate, but it is true they had fewer restrictions than most other heavily affected nations.

I think a large part of it had to do with a compliant populace. They knew what they faced and they did what the government didnt need to. Their economy shrunk just as much as everyone elses at first because people took it upon themselves to socially distance and wear mask.

Where they were compliant we have seen defiant behavior.

My neighbor has it, still going out?

Apparently 2 of the 3 practical nursing classes might be in quarantine for my technical college and this comes very close to when we're supposed to go to clinical to boot as well. At the very least, we all switched to 5 in and 5 virtual (for testing days) because of 2 positive tests, 1 on 2 other campuses.

At other campuses, I should add (the main one and another satellite). I'm at the one campus that is still clean.

Yes, this is a good point.

I think that's a possibility. I also am hopeful that it is a demonstration of herd immunity developing.

If that's true your neighbor should be punished for this. They are purposely going out in public knowing they have a disease that could be deadly to someone.
Oh it is true, went to hospital last week. He is supposed to get his knee replaced soon, bet that is off.

I'm sure everyone will react rationally to Astrazeneca stopping their trial, but really this plays into why I think before the end of this year is pie in the sky.

I think the spring isn't totally pie in the sky, and by then we should have an idea on most treatments. We gotta make it there though, and one thing we'll need to hope for is the flu and COVID combining doesn't turn everything into a tire fire until then.

As so far, I can tell you at least one major area in the southeast seems like it's held up nicely hospital wise despite getting hammered at times with COVID positive tests. It was tested earlier in August, but things are steadying out. Can it hold up to the possibility of both flu and COVID being a problem if COVID becomes one late in the fall and in winter? That will be the question.

Are you against dui penalties?

No not at all, but DUI is specific and cannot be used for a thousand different reasons.

For instance, you get a sniffle and headache. It could be allergies or it could be the flu. The flu can kill others, so either you go get a flu test every time you get sick or you take off work and stay home until better. Not to mention the flu is apparently also 75-80% asymptomatic.

Does your young child have a cough? Could be allergies or could be RSV. RSV puts thousands of infants in the hospital each year. So that means no childcare.

See my point?

No I don't. Unless I'm missing something the post was about a neighbor who knowingly has it (covid) and going out. Not a headache or sniffles.
