Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

So something a lot of people don't know and what I just realized is that it takes a long time to develop a vaccine. I think the quickest one was about four years and that was for the mumps.

Not to mention from what I've heard, there has never been a vaccine developed for any type of coronavirus. So in my opinion, the hope for some COVID-19 vaccine to be developed in record time is extremely low. Which means that there will probably be no movie theaters, live sports, sitting down in restaurants and occasional full on shutdowns for the foreseeable future, unless something changes.

Looks like Chile has passed the USA in per capita deaths, and Peru and Brazil are quickly catching up, as well. The outbreak in South America is pretty bad.
They're deep into winter. This virus has surprised many folks and has been able to spread (efficiently) in warm weather, but it still spreads better when it's cold. Kind of makes you worry about this upcoming fall season.

The talk of a vaccine coming soon is just a way to keep the market from crashing. There is very little chance of a safe and effective vaccine being developed anytime soon.

and I just don't know how affective it will be once it's available. We keep hearing about it mutating. We'll probably be dealing with this forever; or until they truly develop a universal vaccine that can kill it completely.

Like they're trying to do with the flu:

Kudos to the NC DHHS for really revamping their hospitalization statistics site! This is much better! :)

Interesting that while COVID hospitalizations have increased over the last month or so, hospital bed utilization and ICU utilization have remained flat. Also, new COVID hospital admissions have been pretty flat.

This is false. It has risen recently and has not continued to decline. Look at the graphs for yourself.

Yeah I was about to post the same, the last two weeks have seen increases........the daily average was down to 400-500 a day a month ago and now its back to 900-1000 a day.....and if the new case rate stays the same that number isnt going down anytime soon.

I dont get the whole pushing back the start of school. I mean haven't they had months to prepare for the school year ?

It’s just delaying the inevitable! If they do nothing different and just start school back up like normal, it’s going to get really, really , ugly

A local restaurant that was defying some social distancing and not requiring face mask for patrons or employees has had to shut down. Not by the government but because of employees getting covid......who'd of thunk it.

How does a restaurant patron wear a face mask while eating? Do you mean like wearing it while
getting up from the table visiting the restroom?

Does a person eat the entire time they are at the eatery? Not to mention part of the reopen order was that all employees wear mask and he was not requiring that.

The employee apparently got it at a party where 8 others also were sick. His approach to being anti mask could have exposed dozens of people she served.

We all want the same thing. End the virus as much as we can. Like i said last night, this guy was adamantly against social distancing, masks and every other safety measure. Their approach will only prolong this.

Jesus Christ you can’t ask a patron to wear a mask in between bites. Wearing a mask to and from the restroom is a reasonable request but anything other than that is complete idiocy. If people are scared they're going to get the virus at a restaurant that doesn’t require people to wear a mask at the table then they can stay home.

India reports 40,243 new cases and 675 new deaths.
Brazil reports 23,529 new cases and 716 new deaths.

Jesus christ nobody said they wanted people wearing a mask inbetween bites.

While looking over the menu, going to the restroom, after you finish your meal waiting on check then keep the mask on......trust me it isnt killing you to wear a mask.

RC, FS heres what article stated. Quoted CDC.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the 12th straight week of a declining coronavirus death rate in the U.S.

"Based on death certificate data, the percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19 (PIC) decreased from 8.1% during week 27 to 6.4% during week 28, representing the twelfth week of a declining percentage of deaths due to PIC," the CDC website states.

That’s what I highlighted in my initial response but your response sounded like you wanted people to wear it at the Western Sizzlin’ table ?‍♂️

You won't get a response to your challenge, sadly.

By those numbers it looks like peak deaths are far behind us.

Yep. But some choose to just take MSM narrative as gospel. They have one agenda. I always check the narrative. Then if it matches the story , great. Be nice if you could just beleive what gets reported was truth, but those days are long gone regardless of politics at play.
