You are just basing that on recent years. Heat and humidity is not normal at all in October unless you are in FL.

No I'm definitely not just basing it off of recent years

Since 1981, 20% or 1 out of every 5 of October days in RDU had high temperatures that were at or above 80F, and that fraction has only increased lately, that's still "hot" considering that the heat index is operationally defined by the NWS for temperatures 80F or above, so yea it's still hot & humid in October. In Alabama, this is even more true.

In fact, in Birmingham, AL a whopping 50% of October days since 1981 had high temperatures at or above 80F (with a growing proportion in recent years) , so yes being hot & humid in October even if you're not in Florida is "normal".

I can't believe its 1 in 5 I would have thought 1 in 10 max

Yeah it's actually pretty high. If you go to: https://w2.weather.gov/climate/xmacis.php?wfo=rah

then select stations >> calendar day summaries >> variable: max T, Summary: Number of years, Threshold: >80, you'll see this for 1980-2019:

Divide by 40 and you have daily probs of 80F+, they're almost 50% for each day during the first week of October

If you search YouTube, you can find lots of old TWC on-camera and local forecast clips. But I ran across this channel the other day, Publisher 73: https://www.youtube.com/user/publisher73.

He has put up a bunch of hour+ long videos of old 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s TWC, way back when it was awesome. A lot of them are during Christmas time, where they play Christmas music during the local forecasts. It is so awesome.

are you a weather nerd or geek

They are talking about doing a realignment in MLB and having 3 divisions: East, Central, West. 10 team in each division. Teams would only play teams in their divisions. Braves and Pirates would switch divisions with Braves in Central and Pirates in East.
