Pattern Microwave March

Supposed to freeze again here tonight :D

Phil/folks,
Gainesville is now at 39, which is 6 warmer than that for the same time yesterday. One might think the best guess for tonight's low would be about 6 warmer than yesterday's morning low or about 31. However, there has been persistent partial cloudcover for a few hours. So, this may keep it above 31. We'll see.

Its so dry out there I thought another bottoming out was possible but its stalled a bit...bet my low will be 28 or so.

32º now at 8:30 AM!

Gainesville's official low was 31, making it an impressive 3 freezing lows in a row! SAV had 30 this morning after yesterday's 26 (2 freezing lows in a row). What an interesting and fun mid-March!

Hey GaWx, I am going to be in Savannah next Wed-Sun. Hope it is warmer there then. It looks like it will be 70s/50s and mostly cloudy most days it appears.

Any particular restaurants/bars you would recommend for a first time visitor with spouse. Staying in historic district at Embassy. Dinner at Olde Pink House on Thursday is all we have scheduled currently. Thanks for help.

Hey - it's the middle of March - the 17th actually, so just want to say:

Best to All!

Here are a few you might want to check: Crystal Beer Parlor (has a big menu/opened in 1933 & is throwback to early 1900s in 100 year old building with numerous old photos on the walls...this is a really cool place), Churchill's Pub, Garibaldi's (Italian/seafood), and Olympia Cafe (Greek on River Street).

All really good choices ;)

Looks like a boring pattern the rest of the month in terms of severe weather. Glenn Burns says there is nothing in sight the rest of the month to suggest severe weather. I guess we can thank these arctic air masses cooling off the Gulf which im guessing would lessen the threat for severe weather.

I take anything Glenn Burns says with a grain of salt. It's time for him to retire.

Not to knock GB, but the current GOM Temp anomaly maps are still well over normal temps for this time of year and the western GOM temps are still in the mid to high 70's. Not exactly a powder keg, but still enough differential temp to provide dense fog advisories for SE Texas this morning. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/GODAS/pent_gif/xy/movie.oisst.gif To discount the rest of the month as being absent of any severe potential for the SE is using a better crystal ball than I have, that is for sure.

Yes, I'm a "severe wx nerd" but I will never hype what does not exist. Also keep in mind that it doesn't take 90°f temps to stir up severe wx (Feb tornado in Albany Ga) it merely takes the differential between air masses to create the dynamics needed.

Great, thanks for sharing. Certainly will try these. Now I hope the weather cooperates. Wifey had planned lots of tours and activities that include walking all over the area. It will be fun, our 35th Anniversary trip.

Looks like an interesting afternoon up this way, potent little upper lever system lowering freezing levels.....might see some decent hail. 4k NAM has some sn/ip later tonight not too far to my north too..hmmm
