I haven’t stayed up for it in years. Now I’m usually in bed by 10pm unless there is snow to track. Plus I have 3 little kiddos so all I drink is juice boxes .

In the short term looks like raleigh eastwards in the Carolinas will make a run at 75-80 degree temps Friday . Nice way to ring in the new decade .

Serious question: how does this winter match up with the winter of 79/80 with regards to the relative indices (ENSO/PDO/AO etc).
I only ask because it seems as if that winter featured an active southern stream but very mild first half of winter; which then turned into a cold/snowy February/early March.

Maybe this look is more of high pressures coming in from the north to keep some CAD around to make us feel somewhat cool
