so we sat in the house.Had to give in and turn on the AC. Had the windows open and ceiling fans on, but my wife said she was hot. Gotta keep the wife happy so she'll be hot later on.
That's what the troll spray is for, if something goes out of hand, I'll put them on ignore - virtually using my troll spray.I have found that the IGNORE USER feature works great on this forum. Out of sight, out of mind. There no excuse for anyone who chooses not to act politely, but the Ignore button can prevent some anxiety.
Interesting IMBY facts -- LOL

Those are Jax readings from NWS Jax I posted! I was too young in 1958 to even remember the way out of the crib! Lived in Jax in those days. Have no idea what happened in Gainesville, except that the football team probably sucked!SAV got a rare 1" from this. But I've been trying to figure out if Gainesville got snow on 2/13/58. Do you know? It appears unlikely except perhaps for some northern suburbs. Here's why:
I see that Apalachicola got 1.2". I see that Lake City got snow (0.44" was mainly from "melted snow"). No surprises there.
Now, closer to Gainesville:
High Springs got 1/2" of snow:
https://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/orders/IPS/IPS-42E23D9D-1AAF-4098-B6EE-645C533B4456.pdf
Starke got 30 minutes of light snow:
https://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/orders/IPS/IPS-5D3F0DF1-D553-461D-A06F-A49ACCBCF0FC.pdf
But this station 3 miles WSW of Gainesville didn't indicate snow anywhere (it shows a high of 58, low of 29 and 0.34":
https://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/orders/IPS/IPS-75540E39-0856-4A88-AFF6-2607139C0BEC.pdf
Also, none of Palatka, St. Augustine, Cross City, and Cedar Key indicated any snow.
Conclusion: snow got at least down to a line from High Springs to Starke. Perhaps some northern suburbs of Gainesville like yours were near the southenmost point.

See what I mean about my karma today! Can't communicate worth a hoot. Oh well!I know they were from Jax. I was just curious about the most southern latitude of the snow from this system and figured you might have heard about snow in Gainesville in 1958 if it had occurred due to living there for quite awhile. Also, when I said that perhaps snow got down to your northern suburbian area, I didn't mean to imply I thought you were actually there then or necessarily even alive then.

My neighbor is 72 and he remembers it (snow that is) FWIW
we are in the Millhopper area (far NW) - you probably recall the vicinity - 15 miles to High Springs, and his house is the one he grew up in and he says it stuck - this was all farmland then (and when I bought my place, there was no Millhopper - except the sink hole, and 43rd going north was 2 lanes and then stopped as a dirt road!)That's ok as that's the internet!
This is great stuff! Was your neighbor living in the same northern suburb of Gainesville in 2/1958?? Does he recall whether it stuck and if so, about how much accumulated? As of now, the furthest south I've been able to find that it stuck is High Springs.

what sticks on archer road is not snow - at least not the kind we're talking about ... truly LOLThank you! That confirms it. The 2/13/1958 sticking snow actually made it to some of the northern suburbs of Gainesville! From all that I've checked, I don't think sticking snow made it to Archer Road.
Don't worry, March will save us and give us 0.000001% of that! LOLTalk about being jealous. Yes, that is a lamp post. What a rotten winter this has been.

Cleared out quickly here after the rain ended, so maybe it will clear out for you.I usually like the rain but today it's just making me feel dreary.
It's not gonna end well.... Lol
Sometimes when your going down faster than the titanic you have to try everything to keep from sinking even if that means stealing ideas. Don't be shocked to see an honorary boat captain at some point....Good to see our ideas are so popular
