Today's Gospel @ Mass ...

Someone in the crowd said to Jesus,
"Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me."
He replied to him,
"Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?"
Then he said to the crowd,
"Take care to guard against all greed,
for though one may be rich,
one's life does not consist of possessions."

Then he told them a parable.
"There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, 'What shall I do,
for I do not have space to store my harvest?'
And he said, 'This is what I shall do:
I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones.
There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, "Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for many years,
rest, eat, drink, be merry!"'
But God said to him,
'You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you;
and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?'
Thus will it be for all who store up treasure for themselves
but are not rich in what matters to God."

The push to do this shouldn't require a religion. This should come from our heart. Something inside us should already tell us to help the poor if one is financially comfortable enough to provide for his or her family and self especially because any of us could have been or become poor at any point.

Well, it's still a good message ... ;)

Indeed, this is the good side of religions as they usually encourage sacrifices to help others. Regardless, in my mind, family comes first if they're in more need.

My family gets ... and gives ... (don't know how else to say it without getting bragadocious) ... ;)

I was raised catholic, so there’s that!?

Why didn’t God protect all those people in the mass shootings

The inherit evil in a man's heart is the problem.

If you stipulate that God exists, then by extension, you have to also stipulate that His understanding of all things vastly exceeds anything we are capable of. That's not an answer, but I don't think we will ever know an answer conclusively. It's difficult to know the mind of God.

Impossible to know, except to realize He gave us free will, and a couple places to go depending on how we use it

Even though I believe in the power of prayer, I don’t think that the big guy necessarily works that way. I mean you could also ask why he allows tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, extreme heat/cold, and other natural disasters to exist. You could also wonder why he allows accidents and murders. This is beyond our knowledge, but my belief is that he is first and foremost our creator and he largely sort of lets things happen in this world. But again, prayer sometimes could cause him to intervene in a positive manner. And of course, then there may very well be the next world for our souls to enter though it is impossible to know for sure. Assuming there is, our prayers may very well have more impact in that next world.

Edit: I feel confident that the big guy doesn’t pull for one sports team over another.

I think the problem is we through human lense always go back to the thought that this life is "it" If that is true, its a valid point to ask God why he allows evil things to take lives of "good" people in short fashion.

However, its not that way. For what is a hundred or a thousand years of earthly misery if it means an enternity with God. Paul says it best and he knew what suffering was.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Romans 8:16

What about the bodies of missing children? Torture? Where is he?

Each religion is their own interpretation of psychedelic experiences that by their ancestors. I do think their is something fundamental to consciousness that hasn’t been solved yet, so I guess that would put me as an agnostic.
We are all imperfect people.. the essence of Christianity is totally different than other religions only in the fact that good works, do not get us closer to God, or to heaven. Christianity is the only religion that empowers us to become better people, and that doesn't happen in other religions. I'm not talking about Good Works I'm talking about real change internally that makes you a better person.

The questions you ask will not truly come from me or others on here but God himself. I understand your confusion and your concerns, but I could sit here all day long and ask God, "God, why did you take my grandparents away" or " God, why did my parents die" or "God, why did these people get gunned down in these walmart's? I could sit here all day long and ask, and we would never know. When Adam and Eve first sin, death started its job. We all have been given choices in life, and those choices make or brake us. All I can say, God has more love for his people in the world than any of us can imagine and he also has mercy upon us. I'm not gonna sit back and question God because his will be done

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Many examples in the word of God. Where the question has come up where is God , or why did God allow this or that to happen.
Read about Job who was as Goldly a Man as they come, Noah, the plaques in Exodus or the persucution of the early church in the book of Acts. Had God not allowed that persucution, wonder what if anything would have driven the disciples to fulfill the great comission of going and preaching the gospel to Judea. Samaria and the uttermost parts of the earth. They would have all probably hung out in Judea in their comfort zone.

There is no denying a creator created this world. You reflect on our anatomy and the right balance of gases in the air, oxygen, water, balance of seasons, being just the right distance from the sun so we dont scorch or freeze. No way this all happened as the result of an explosion.
Now ask yourself if God created us, then dont you think he had a purpose? And dont you think he would reveal why, what for etc? Thats why we need to read his word. The bible says God is not the author of confussion. He created us for no other reason than to have fellowship or a relationship with us. He gives everyone the free will to choose to follow his ways or not. Its your own personal decession. And we are individually responsible for how we choose to answer his invitation. Its all laid out in the Bible. God isnt interested in religion or denominations , thats man made stuff. Hes interested in each one of us on an individual level. He sent his Son to make a way for us to be able to do this very thing. He knows more about us than we know ourselves. The Bible says he knows the number of hairs on our head. God knows our thoughts and our hearts. Best way to say it is he knows us to our core. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE ALL HAVE IS WE DONT TAKE THE TIME TO KNOW HIM. We are all so busy, prideful, self reliant we are afraid to turn over the controls to him. Adam and eve lived in the perfect enviroment. Had it made and had only one rule to follow , but like all men they gave into temptation and sinned against God. Sin has consequences and mankind has suffered from them since then and will continue till Jesus comes again. I encourage everyone to take the time and learn 1st hand about their creator. The most important question we will have to answer in our life is do we beleive in God and his son Jesus Christ finished work on the cross and do we accept him, ask him by our own invitation to invade our life and have a relationship with him. Only thing that will matter eternally. Not how good we where, if we where on a church roll, won nobel peace prize, etc. Works, good deeds dont get u into heaven. Muder, lying, stealing etc dont get you into Hell. You get to heaven by what jesus did and accepting it ,confessing hes Gods son and beleiving that he overcome death ,hell and the grave, so you to can overcome them. You repent of your sinfull nature we are ALL born with. You go to Hell simply by choosing not to do this. The gospel is simple . We each one have to decide for ourself whether we accept it or not. This isnt NCSNOW saying this, its Gods word. I DONT THINK GOD CREATED ANY OF US TO JUST LIVE ON EARTH FOR 72.5 YEARS ON AVERAGE AND JUST MAKE THE MOST OUT OF IT. Dont be blinded by the prince of this world into thinking there is no eternity, cause we all have eternal life and theres only 2 addresses. This aint NCSNOW, catholic church, Darwin, Baptist church saying this. Straight from the Word Of God. I encourage everyone to read it. God reveals himself to us through his word.
