Folks,
I'm not a Trump fan at all but I'm also certainly not an Obama fan. But I couldn't stop LMAO at this guy, a spot on Obama impersonator repeating some very well-known Trump lines in a serious manner on Bill Maher's show. This is one of the funniest things I've heard in years. I'm putting this out there for pure entertainment rather than to take sides:

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

So just to play devil's advocate here and to stir the political pot...... :)

I'm no Trump fan (although I personally approve of some of his agenda, getting Gorsuch to the SCOTUS a win imo) and I know Trump is not the best orator by a long shot but what did he do wrong over the weekend? He called out hate groups, sure he said both sides, which is not entirely incorrect. He came out Monday I believe and named the groups by name which obviously wasn't enough... As I recall Obama never called out groups on the left, for example BLM, in fact he invited it's leader to the White House. Shouldn't all violence, all hate groups regardless of their political affiliation or beliefs be called out?
Not to mention I think it's funny that Neo-Nazi groups are somehow "connected" to conservatives, last time I checked they are Hitler supporters (socialist), they despise Jews (similar to radical Islamic terrorist who by the way if you call them that your a racist), they are communist supporters which is the exact opposite of conservatism and I assure you someone will read my comments and thank that I'm sympathizing with the white supremacy groups which I am not.

Oh and while I'm at it why is Nationalism so bad, why has this been connected to racism now.... Nationalist are people of all race, religions, backgrounds, etc that have a love for their country, it's offensive to me as a conservative, white male, that every day I have to hear that conservatives are racist. That somehow or another because I have conservative views I "relate" to the despots of the world that spew hatred and violence such as those white supremacy groups did over the weekend.

All hatred needs to be called out and all violence, no matter the cause, must not be tolerated

:p:D:cool:

You and I are about old enough to remember when tension was not hate ... but was somehow positive ... ;)

Over at the political board for American, I'm constantly called "TeenNazi" along with other insults such as self-hating because I'm a non-white person who dares to voice right-wing and nationalist views.

I haven't posted at American in over 2 years and likely will never again. I'm not just talking about the political side. Their wx forum is the only one I've ever decided to completely stop posting at since I started on the Prodigy wx forum in the early 1990s,

I've seen the absolutely nasty treatment you've received in their political forum. The best word to describe that forum: nauseating. If you're not lock step with the heavily dominating ultra liberals there, you're treated like crap. Opposing views aren't tolerated, which means they're hypocritical.

Over there they rightfully speak out about bigotry. Yet, they're bigots, themselves, and therefore, hypocrites. Whites (especially males), older people, younger people like you (calling you an ignorant "kid" or "teenager"...why is that tolerated?), conservatives, Republicans, and even moderates and independents are demonized there as groups. They constantly talk about generalizing being terrible and yet they do just that with regard to the groups they don't support..."white privilege", "mansplaining", etc.! There's one poster there who calls many who oppose her sexists.. Yet, she refers to "mansplaining" all the time and says that it isn't possible to be a sexist against males or a racist against whites because they're "in power". How convenient! Almost everything they talk about regards one's identity. Most of the moderators are biased liberal and don't treat conservatives equally. (I'm moderately conservative overall).

The reason they're dominated by liberals there: a large portion of the members are in the NE US and are Millenials, which are two demographics heavily favoring liberals.

***Edit: Simeon, I added a comment above regarding them picking on you because of you being a teenager. Also, I have nothing against someone just because they're liberal or even socialist. Even I have a few liberal views. And I do have liberal friends and relatives and get along very well. But I do have a lot against someone who's liberal and spews hatred against moderates and conservatives as a group. The same goes for conservatives doing likewise to liberals.

Yeah, I don't have any hatred for people just because of their political affiliation. In fact lot of my friends and family members are to the left of me and I don't mind at all.

Also, I was given the "liar" tag and five-posted just because I made a joke post lol.

I've heard the political section over on AmWx is not "user friendly" to put it lightly. I've never read or posted in it in all my 6 1/2 years of being a member there. I'm a black, almost 25 year old male Bernie-crat. I have a feeling my political views won't be liked by many over there. lol

It's unfortunate people from all political sides make so much unnecessary noise because there's a lot of policy ideas most Americans actually agree on, but it just gets lost in translation.

It's just unfortunate that no matter who you are are what your bent is, that some folks want to castigate you ... :(

They had to break it off itnto it's own thing, lol. It gets rowdy! They're going to end up with a bigger success than their weather forum with it I would assume.

That's putting it VERY mildly. This was one of the things that made it a huge turnoff for me as it aided in the formation of strong cliques that subtlely oozed there way into the wx section, which made it so easy to stop posting there cold turkey nearly 3 years ago. The staff did little to try to reverse the formation of these cliques. If anything, they encouraged their proliferation!

Speaking of agreement, RIP Barbara Bush! She was loved by many folks of both major parties.

I'm a lefty, and banned from there... put that in your sock and smoke it.. lol

Q to Admins: can I start a Death Penalty thread.. or should that discussion be placed in this 'all encompassing one' here?

Personally I say just roll with it in here, some would certainly argue it's political and besides no chance of it getting "lost" in here since there is so little traffic in this thread.

Monkey it up is a term I have heard since I was a little boy, it’s not racial in any way but people can twist things towards their side I guess.

I have absolutely no tolerance for infidelity, abuse or misconduct.
Yet, I wonder if today's "standards" were applied, would any of these actually be former US Presidents ... just scratching the surface and the noggin, btw ...
Franklin D. Roosevelt - Lucy Mercer,
Dwight D. Eisenhower - Kay Summersby
John F. Kennedy - Angie Dickinson, Kim Novak, and Marilyn Monroe
Lyndon Baines Johnson - Madeline Brown
Bill Clinton - a whole covey

I think JFK list was longer then Clinton, that dude had a lot in his closet.

Senator Flake, thank you very much for letting common sense over partisanship prevail! So, although he voted yes for Kav to get him the majority in committee to allow for a full Senate vote later, he remarked just before that he will not vote yes in the full Senate vote unless a weeklong FBI investigation is first done. Flake knows he has a lot of leverage in the full vote as his no vote will mean fewer than 50 votes based on hearing that at least Sen Murkowski also supports the weeklong delay. This was an absolutely brilliant move on the side of common sense.

Later today. Trump approved the FBI investigation due to having his back to the wall. Also, he actually sounded extra civil today regarding remarks on Ford's testimony. Even that was a breath of fresh air. Was a spell cast on Washington today??

This is good for both sides. If the FBI discovers enough to allow one to conclude that Kav actually did commit sexual assault, he’s going to be defeated after the weeklong delay by Flake, Murkowski, and possibly others who join the Dems, which to me would be a win for our country and would quite possibly end up being better for even the GOP (believe it or not) as regards the opinion of the American electorate. If the FBI doesn’t find out enough to support Dr. Ford’s allegations, then Kav is cleared (which would be great for Kav and his family) and he’d easily get a majority, possibly including some Dems! I’d then also be in favor of Kav at that point.

As bad as I felt yesterday due to partisanship dominating the atmosphere, today was the polar opposite for me. Many won't see it this way, but what a great day for America! Admittedly, the drama made it as riveting a day on the US political front as any I can recall outside of elections (especially the 2016 major upset and the incredibly close 2000).

I’m fine with the FBI investigation of Kav again( 6th time), they won’t find anything again and it will be a waste but we live in a world where you are guilty until proven....even without any proof.

* that clown show by the Dems yesterday made me sick. I

Larry,
As a lawyer, I can only say that our Framers were brilliant.
This process is not a trial, nor was it ever intended to be; what I saw yesterday never got to "beyond a reasonable doubt" or even to "greater weight of the evidence". If that were the standard, Judge Kavanaugh would be in. However, politics and other factors are and were intentionally built in to the system, as designed, and yesterday and today put that on display for America to see. And hopefully digest.
This is not a comment on what should happen, and most assuredly not an editorial on your post (which I truly enjoyed reading), but just a corollary observation/segue ...
Phil

What do Kanye West & Jeff Flake have in common? They’re both mavericks/free thinkers. They think for themselves as opposed to just doing what they’re “supposed to do”. They’re both brave. Good for both of them:

Kanye wears MAGA hat on SNL: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/kanye-west-wears-maga-hat-050744991.html

Jeff Flake calls for Kavanaugh delay: https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxn...ugh-delay-were-coming-apart-at-seams.amp.html

Edit: yes, I realize Kanye is a jerk and I also hate his “music”. His 1st 2 “songs” on SNL last night were awful. But those things are beside the point I’m making here.

On CBS 60 Minutes Jeff Flake was asked if he was running for reelection would he have called for an FBI investigation, his response? "Not a chance"..... not exactly the example of a maverick imho. Besides also in my humble opinion Flake was bullied to change his mind and he caved Kanye was bullied but did not so I would argue there are differences. Not that either of them are one of my favorites

Glenn Beck played a clip yesterday of an interview with Obama where he admitted to using illegal substances and drinking as a teenager, even stating he once drank a 6 pack in an hour before heading back to class while in college. So Beck decided today on his radio show to conduct a "scientific experiment" and had his side kick (Stu) drink a shot of beer every minute for 60 minutes, the equivalent to 6 beers to see if he would be in any condition to "go to class".... I'm not bringing this up for political side of it but simply this: that was the most entertaining hour of talk radio I've ever listened too! What a gig! Lol

Anymore watching the meeting today with Trump? Darn this is fun, it refreshing to have someone speak his mind.
I just tuned in, Trump going on a tangent about Israel in response to the question about the hate crimes and such wont look good.

Turn on channel six, the President comes on the news
Says, "I get no satisfaction, that's why I sing the blues"
His wife say, "Don't get crazy, Lord, you know just what to do
Crank up that old Victrola, put on your rockin' shoes"

Now if that doesn't sum it up, in part ...

100 years of suppressing natural wildfires and the resulting buildup of fuel that otherwise wouldn't exist = 2018 California. Maybe we will learn from this but I doubt it.
