I have absolutely no tolerance for infidelity, abuse or misconduct.
Yet, I wonder if today's "standards" were applied, would any of these actually be former US Presidents ... just scratching the surface and the noggin, btw ...
Franklin D. Roosevelt - Lucy Mercer,
Dwight D. Eisenhower - Kay Summersby
John F. Kennedy - Angie Dickinson, Kim Novak, and Marilyn Monroe
Lyndon Baines Johnson - Madeline Brown
Bill Clinton - a whole covey

Senator Flake, thank you very much for letting common sense over partisanship prevail! So, although he voted yes for Kav to get him the majority in committee to allow for a full Senate vote later, he remarked just before that he will not vote yes in the full Senate vote unless a weeklong FBI investigation is first done. Flake knows he has a lot of leverage in the full vote as his no vote will mean fewer than 50 votes based on hearing that at least Sen Murkowski also supports the weeklong delay. This was an absolutely brilliant move on the side of common sense.

Later today. Trump approved the FBI investigation due to having his back to the wall. Also, he actually sounded extra civil today regarding remarks on Ford's testimony. Even that was a breath of fresh air. Was a spell cast on Washington today??

This is good for both sides. If the FBI discovers enough to allow one to conclude that Kav actually did commit sexual assault, he’s going to be defeated after the weeklong delay by Flake, Murkowski, and possibly others who join the Dems, which to me would be a win for our country and would quite possibly end up being better for even the GOP (believe it or not) as regards the opinion of the American electorate. If the FBI doesn’t find out enough to support Dr. Ford’s allegations, then Kav is cleared (which would be great for Kav and his family) and he’d easily get a majority, possibly including some Dems! I’d then also be in favor of Kav at that point.

As bad as I felt yesterday due to partisanship dominating the atmosphere, today was the polar opposite for me. Many won't see it this way, but what a great day for America! Admittedly, the drama made it as riveting a day on the US political front as any I can recall outside of elections (especially the 2016 major upset and the incredibly close 2000).

I’m fine with the FBI investigation of Kav again( 6th time), they won’t find anything again and it will be a waste but we live in a world where you are guilty until proven....even without any proof.

* that clown show by the Dems yesterday made me sick. I

Larry,
As a lawyer, I can only say that our Framers were brilliant.
This process is not a trial, nor was it ever intended to be; what I saw yesterday never got to "beyond a reasonable doubt" or even to "greater weight of the evidence". If that were the standard, Judge Kavanaugh would be in. However, politics and other factors are and were intentionally built in to the system, as designed, and yesterday and today put that on display for America to see. And hopefully digest.
This is not a comment on what should happen, and most assuredly not an editorial on your post (which I truly enjoyed reading), but just a corollary observation/segue ...
Phil

What do Kanye West & Jeff Flake have in common? They’re both mavericks/free thinkers. They think for themselves as opposed to just doing what they’re “supposed to do”. They’re both brave. Good for both of them:

Kanye wears MAGA hat on SNL: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/kanye-west-wears-maga-hat-050744991.html

Jeff Flake calls for Kavanaugh delay: https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxn...ugh-delay-were-coming-apart-at-seams.amp.html

Edit: yes, I realize Kanye is a jerk and I also hate his “music”. His 1st 2 “songs” on SNL last night were awful. But those things are beside the point I’m making here.

On CBS 60 Minutes Jeff Flake was asked if he was running for reelection would he have called for an FBI investigation, his response? "Not a chance"..... not exactly the example of a maverick imho. Besides also in my humble opinion Flake was bullied to change his mind and he caved Kanye was bullied but did not so I would argue there are differences. Not that either of them are one of my favorites

Glenn Beck played a clip yesterday of an interview with Obama where he admitted to using illegal substances and drinking as a teenager, even stating he once drank a 6 pack in an hour before heading back to class while in college. So Beck decided today on his radio show to conduct a "scientific experiment" and had his side kick (Stu) drink a shot of beer every minute for 60 minutes, the equivalent to 6 beers to see if he would be in any condition to "go to class".... I'm not bringing this up for political side of it but simply this: that was the most entertaining hour of talk radio I've ever listened too! What a gig! Lol

Anymore watching the meeting today with Trump? Darn this is fun, it refreshing to have someone speak his mind.
I just tuned in, Trump going on a tangent about Israel in response to the question about the hate crimes and such wont look good.

Turn on channel six, the President comes on the news
Says, "I get no satisfaction, that's why I sing the blues"
His wife say, "Don't get crazy, Lord, you know just what to do
Crank up that old Victrola, put on your rockin' shoes"

Now if that doesn't sum it up, in part ...
