Pattern Winter outlook 2022/2023

I remember last year when folks were cheering for the SER/WAR at times since it created a more amplified pattern which allowed more juiced up storms riding along the boundary.

This is true. The fact is that we know we’re going to have to deal with the SER some this winter… it is a LaNina after all. I still think we’re gonna have some chances in the first half of the winter and we may honestly want a little flexing from it to help keep things from getting squashed.

I think it will depend on the Aleutian ridge this winter. Let's hope and pray it is more poleward. ?. If it is, I believe we will be in good shape

That correlation does make some sense when you look at last year. Most of October until the last week was pretty much an extension of summer… even the humidity stayed up there. November was cool then we saw an absolute blow torch December

No, that is a typical La Nina winter pattern for the United States and the NWS is just betting on the averages.

No, that is a typical La Nina winter pattern for the United States and the NWS is just betting on the averages.

I feel like all their forecasts are based off typical La Niña or El Niño conditions. Not sure how much they factor in other things

Webb was pretty much spot on for the pattern that we saw this past January. He started calling right about Christmas while most of us were outside in shorts on Christmas Day
