Yeah, it seems like from the armchair generals (not directed at anyone here), they have committed multiple tactical errors and are getting continually repelled by an inferior force. I realize they're not using nukes or everything in their arsenal, but if this is the best they can do, I'm not inclined to spend a lot of time worrying about them on the global stage as any serious threat (unless we think they'll just start nuking people, which I don't).
I think the problem is for Russia is now the world is watching and the world is mad. Russia knew if they did too much, the world would come down on them so they tried to end it quickly with as little fighting as possible. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t get Ukraine to the table, and will not be able to, the west is pouring in weapons and if they start slaughtering civilians the world may just come calling and then end up in a war they don’t want and can’t win.

Putin just took a situation he could have come out on top yet did a complete Georgia mimic to a perfect degree.

Russia not worried. They got big brother watching their back. China

Talk of Russia losing this thing is premature. We are only two days into this.
Very true but it's clear by now the early reports of heavy Russian losses was true as they've had a hard time advancing. Putin is doing far more damage to his military complex than he thinks. Especially if the rumors of forced involvement are true.

I don’t see a scenario where Russia loses. Just depends on how much they want to risk losing in the process. Seems they’re all in and Putin knows the world is watching.

China cant do ---- to help Russia here....if anything all they are doing is learning that Taiwan is their Ukraine and they should expect similar results if they were to try and take Taiwan....their losses will be much larger though since they share no land border and all their troops have to come by ship or plane, something the Taiwanese have lots of defense against.

Russia can absolutely win this militarily but they are gonna have to start leveling these cities and slaughtering thousands of civilians which would find its way all over Twitter and tic toc. Putin is scared to do this or he would have already done it.

But who knows, he may end up doing it. I didn’t think at all he had the guts to actually go to war with Ukraine.

Do most people not realize that Russia and China are long-time mortal enemies?
I think that's a bit strong. I think of them as frenemies (which still may be an unpopular opinion). Like they have their back to each other--looking to expand whichever direction they're facing. Russia west. China east. (Which brings each of them into conflict with US) But both are competing for the overall global stage.

It's the last two lines that I don't fully understand.
My interpretation is hes saying he is unpredictable. Despite his history of having 0 value for human life/freedom , they could predict his self impossed boundaries before. Lately thats not the case or vibe .

Putin certainly wouldn't be the first shrewd/crafty leader that ended up unstable after a long string of success. In fact, those successes in Georgia 2008 and Crimea 2014 may have made him overconfident and emboldened while rejecting the new reality he's in. Might trust his gut over sound advice. ??

He (Putin) could level the city but that serves no purpose. It's going to urban warefare. He knows it, doesn't care how many of his soldiers are killed. The full assault forces are hanging back and will move in on the backside of this weekends barrage. We'll see if Ukrainians have the resolve to hold out

About a hr or so till sunrise and then things get rougher for the Russians quickly.....also they seem to not be fairing very well in the air, seems like given the small nature of the Ukrainian air force and anti air that Russia's day one plan to knock out Ukrainian aircraft/AA capabilities failed miserably....assuming of course these shoot down claims are true....

US and Russia exchange part motors for legacy space engines, flights left from Cape Canaveral weekly to Russia with these parts on Russian aircraft, cutoff via sanctions. SpaceX has the upper hand, really global given sustained launch tempo.
