Turbulent April '23

Impressive

That's horrible unless you want another disaster of a winter like we just had
It can’t be any worse! There’s no way the west coast trough can stay anchored out there for another 99.8% of the winter with an El Niño! We need a big shakeup, after 3 continuous winter Nina’s! I say bring it, let’s see what happens!
Anybody got the analogs for a moderate Nino after 3 Niña winters?? Would be fun to look at

One of the hottest times in April I can remember in the upstate, was April 2003! Remember mid 90s for a stretch
It may of been 03 but there was one year when the hottest part of the year was late April.
When I used to travel for a living,
My first trip to DFW was April 1 late 2000's
GSP was low 40's & low 60's
Charlotte around the same.
Asheville knock a few degrees off that.
When we landed at DFW it was upper 80's around 10 am locally.
The high that day was 100°
Never forget that..
We go 10 years or longer without a single 100°
It's generally expected out there for 5 months a year or longer.
Also it's not a dry heat.
So thankful I'm where I'm at.

GSP finally gave in to the modeling; now showing a high of just 45 on Sat.

Sunday - Tues look gorgeous!

Low this morning at RDU was 70 degrees. Because of Daylight Savings it looks like it will remain near/at 70 (instead of ~68) for the official low. And the high tomorrow will also be 70 (instead of ~68). Sounds trivial but these statistics can add up over time.

Yeah it’s gonna funny to look at the climate records tomorrow and see highs close to 70 knowing full well it will be well down into the 40s by the afternoon

NAMS went for the fences on rainfall totals across NC .. we will see how that holds but I have a feeling whoever maximizes with rainfall tonight into early tomorrow will have the best shot at 4+ inches of rain by the end of the event. Regardless widespread 1-2 inches for most of NC .. what a great rainfall event for the region during our dry season this will be very helpful next few weeks
