Gas jumped 35c over night and is now at $3.09. We will see if this ripples down to costs of goods and a rise in inflation. First time over $3 since some time last year

Very impressive strike from the experts on the media reports so far this morning

Edit found a summary wow

More than 125 U.S. military aircraft participated in the operation. The B-2s hit Fordo and Natanz. The submarines hit Isfahan with Tomahawks. More than 75 total weapons were used. This was also the military’s first operational use of GBU-57s, and more than a dozen were used.

It was the largest B-2 operational strike in U.S. history and the second-largest B-2 mission ever flown, only exceeded by missions after 9/11. The military launched B-2s to the Pacific as a decoy, part of a deception effort.

It will be interesting to see if they did anything beyond shake the pictures of the Ayatollah off the walls. A lot of misconstrued/unit-converted info floating around about those bombs. Those mountains are solid granite and the penetration depth would be nowhere near as advertised, hence why they used so many. That ejecta looks like just like good 'ol Winnsboro Blue Granite dust. To make my point consider this: the upper end of granite's compressive strength is >29,000psi. Publicly available data says the MOP can run through 8' of 10K PSI rated concrete. Taking into account the capabilities are likely more than that you can see why it wouldn't be a stretch to think taking the facility offline entirely may not be in the cards. That doesn't even take into account the (most likely) feet of concrete that makes up the walls and ceiling of that place inside the mountain.

A much more reasonable outcome would be seismic events from each explosion damaging any running equipment.

Another wrinkle is there are less than 30 of these things ever produced as far as expenditures go. To use ~half of them in one go is certainly a choice.

Yeah I mean it's a risk and a gamble and ballsy and I will try not to get too political here

But after 45 years someone had to try and do something

In reality this is going to just exacerbate our slowdown through the ports and everything downstream of there. Even if nothing else happens, additional risk is going to get priced in from delays and route changes.

I don't work in the maritime insurance industry but I do work adjacent to it. Been slowwwwwwww since March due to tariffs.

That’s all they can do and we are prepared for it. They have been moving equipment out of bases for about 2 weeks. They won’t hurt much besides a few abandoned building, broken down planes and Tanks.

Right and if Iran really wants to do something massive in response well we saw what just happened right

I have a longtime Iranian-American friend who gives me great info on what really happens in Iran. You probably won’t hear this from the MSM. About 80% of the 90+ million Iranians literally can’t stand the current 46 year old regime and thus are happy Israel attacked as the innocents’ casualties/damage are worth the risk. Most like Trump because they feel he’d offer the best chance for regime change.

They loved that several military leaders and nuclear scientists were killed by Israel. Most of them are non-religious deeply cultured Persians. They’re pro-west and have almost no resemblance in any way to their radical Islamic leaders (mullahs). It’s a huge mismatch.

They loved the TV station being hit because it’s govt controlled and thus spreads propaganda.

They’d love a regime change though they’d prefer the Shah’s son not take over as they don’t like him. But even he’d be significantly better than the mullahs/Ayatollah.

Millions in Iran including youth have been willing to cooperate with Israel’s Mossad by helping them smuggle in military equipment!

About 95% of Iranian-Americans are happy Israel attacked and ~70% like Trump.

Yeah I'm not really worried about some big attack from Iran

The bigger issue is probably the lone wolves or the sympathizers like we've seen with the pro Palestinian Hamas people

The dude in Colorado at the Jewish thing a few weeks ago that sort of thing. The Jewish couple shot and killed in DC before that. Isolated events mostly

Even last week with Minnesota and the congresswoman

I'm not sure how severely this hurts shipping interest but can't be good.

This might finish Irans regime off if they do this

Iran's parliament has pushed the nation to close the Strait of Hormuz, according to state media, but left the final decision to choke off the key waterway to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Their entire economy or what's left of it relies on that!

China and Russia warned them to not do it.

Well, it's not a DOOMED day, but it is a vibes feel off day.

Trying for breadth expansion like this ended in tears last summer and TSLA going nuts like this can be the final piece of the puzzle to a reversal.

I'll be here for a few days. I got temp banned from Reddit for relatively mild commentary and using a burner to try to get around.

Yeah, I'm really doubting that this retaliation is going to do much overall to the market. Might add another -1% from here that gets bought quickly this week.

I'm sure that 1% will add another 2% to make it another over 3% down day for Google though.

I remain so sorry that I capitulated on the CC's I sold and I sold some fresh ones to make up for that.

Edit: Scratch that, I meant 4%+.
