I mean he has two national titles, 3 SEC titles, and has been in 8 SEC championship games in ten seasons. Plus he has more wins in his first ten seasons than any other coach in the modern era. I'm not sure I'd come quite to that conclusion.

Yeah he used to be a good coach. I just don't think he's as good as Curt Cignetti. I'm not sure Kirby Smart could go to a program that has been horrible their entire existence and turn it around.

Cignetti is definitely a special mind with a QB that also has a special mind. What he has been able to do with lesser talent is nothing short of incredible. When he can sustain that type of success through multiple quarterbacks and coordinators, then we can judge apples to apples.

Its akin to a guy like Dabo Swinney, who is an ass hair short of a complete fraud. He deserves all the credit for hiring Brent Venables and Jeff Scott to run his team, and pay them massively to keep them around for so long, but to crash and burn with the talent on that roster in the absolute garbage of a league the ACC is beyond reputable. He couldn't even make the ACC championship game, but some how, some way, his former offensive coordinator did with scrubs at the University of Virginia. He will be fired after next season.

Do you feel like Georgia would have had a better chance this year if Carson Beck was still the QB ? Which QB do you think is better, Beck or Stockton ?

Gunner Stockton, no question.

Beck is okay when he has a clean pocket, but so is almost any quarterback. Stockton made plays that I've only ever seen Stetson make under duress. Beck had 6 picks in their two losses this season against SMU and Louisville, plus he had less than 150 last night against Ohio State. Georgia with Gunner wipes the field with both of those teams. Miami goes as far as that amazing defensive front takes them.

Georgia lost tonight because Trinidad Chambliss played out of his mind and we gave up almost 500 yards of offense. Yeah, the stupid 4th down attempt inside our own 35 didn't help, but they deserved to win. Beck would have been sacked 12 times.

I'll still take Stetson Bennett over Beck or Stockton but that's just me.

What about Mike Bobo? And shouldn't GA have run the ball every time inside the 5 to run more clock and leave less time for Miss?

Throwing late in the game instead of running and giving Ole Miss extra time to score was stupid. There was a 100% probability that Ole Miss would score with that much time left. The only way to stop them from scoring is to give them as little time as possible.

I would have run Gunner twice for sure. You would have run another 40 seconds off. At the same time you’re going for the win and you expect your defense to hold them from getting into field goal range with no timeouts, but it was a total failure. The game mostly mostly lost on defense, imo.
 
I'm afraid Gunner got overrated because of his games vs Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas in the regular season tbh (and because he's a much better cultural fit than Beck), as in reality, GT fully exposed his flaws by just running a rush 4 and drop 8 defense for that game (zone defense). He had no answer for that, and it was going to hurt in a week if it didn't hurt last night.

I don't think this is going to be fixable so if somebody cannot replace Branch's twitchiness in 2026, the tide might end up finally turning against Georgia in close games.
