Severe Severe Threat March 15-16 2026

We are getting some thunderstorms out front here. Dampening things is my hope.

Thunder rolling. It sounds nasty outside even under this. IMG_8893.jpeg

While the storms have mostly behaved in Alabama, it does concern me that more of Georgia could be at risk of the storms re-intensifying once daylight heating returns.

There is a supercell developing some broad rotation near Oglethorpe/Montezuma. That one could become trouble as it heads towards the Warner Robins/Perry area.

Also, a confirmed tornado occurred near Lakeland,GA, and another storm looks ready to produce a tornado south of Nashville,GA.

Rolled through here too. Big, positive lightning house-shaking rolling thunderclaps. We had a brief period of heavy rain but virtually no wind.

Came to post. You don’t go tor warned in Mars Hill too often…View attachment 195105

I know this isn’t your region exactly, but driving from Raleigh to Richmond for work this morning, bad idea?
scattered showers & tstorms but nothing super concerning till later. should be fine as long as you're in richmond by lunchtime or so

Pretty calm outside was a bit more windy overnight. Feels like a bust kind of setup to me. Already seeing showers out front. Experience says this almost always diminishes the threat although there are exceptions to the rule

If you are going to make a drive like that today, the morning hours will have better traveling conditions than this afternoon when the main line of storms comes through with the severe weather. Even with no severe weather, the high winds ahead and behind the cold front will make driving rough if you are driving a high profile vehicle.

Getting a bit more concerned for the Raleigh area with the sun starting to come out here this morning, especially if we get any renegades

Yeah, leaving shortly so should be there before noon, driving a typical work van, but not the sprinter types that have a bit higher profile.

Sorry if this was a bit of banter, but not often you can ask a Met or some very knowledgeable weather people specifics like that. Hope everyone is safe and enjoys whatever hits! (safely haha)

Time to rip the bandaid off..why is radar so cluttered this morning? That looks pitiful animated.gif

Pretty nasty thunderstorms developed to my south and look as if they're going to train NE. I drove in the start of them, rain wasn't too bad, but a decent bit of lightning for early in the day.

That cell east of Belton is going to be a problem later. Y’all be safe

Bunch of to do about nothing in my neck of the woods. Barely even windy. On to the next one.

Not sure that was a great warning there but easy to play armchair QB. Not really anything to write home about thus far in the burg
maybe that gust front is so potent they just hit it with a blanket warning? Yeah nothing singular stands out on that line to me atm. idk
