Severe Severe Threat 4-13/14

Well it's here now. Surprisingly not much thunder but the wind is crazy (may be blocking it out some), and it might KO the power as the light just flickered. My crazy self has the window open still XD.

HRRR, 3K NAM, and RGEM are all showing a relative precip minimum in the Eastern Piedmont area of NC. Hopefully this is a good sign in regards to severe weather here. Y’all severe weather nuts can keep your tornadoes. I sure don’t want any of them.

Models have been hinting at that for days. The Raleigh split works just as well for severe as it does for snow.

Even outside of thunderstorms, the winds are raging from the south. As a result, dewpoints near the SE coast from Charleston through Jacksonville are near a summery 70. Contrast that to the 35 dewpoint at Pensacola. Now that's a cold front!

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. The ole Central NC Weather Vortex. “Weather goes in but it doesn’t come out!”

Didn't expect the enhanced risk. WRAL saying we might get a tornado watch here, too. Wonder if we get a watch if this ends up busting like it usually has here the past few years anytime we have a severe storm or tornado watch. It does have that severe feel to it outside, though. But for some reason the past few years whenever I am under a watch I usually don't even have a storm here.

I'm not sure its due to diminishing intensity of the storms. Cold pool development, outflow propagation, and overall system movement will act to accelerate the line through the day

One hell of a bow echo headed toward CAE. Might have had a tornado spin up west of Lexington

Well, that was awesome. If there was a touchdown, it was in the Gilbert area. Saw the circulation over head up here by the lake.

Awesome stuff. ;)
