Severe S/E June Flooding 2019

This is the area that needs to watch for more “real convection” development in the next few hours, MUcape is still over 1000jkg range, EL temps at -40 degrees, which helps out with taller convection thus more lightning, and much heavier rain rates, can also see the low level jet getting going, while the tornado threat is very low, there’s is 20kt+ of low level shear, anyways this low level jet will help upsloping
Actually looks like some spotty Convection is getting going in the circle now D20D3C6E-A07F-460D-BF2D-5EDB50BF7FB0.jpegF1C65E3A-81C5-4412-A478-FC2E0F843A2A.jpegE05FC2E1-A206-4232-888A-791CCADF6F8F.jpeg

It’s varies...when it was coming down at 3” per hour there was no way in or out. Some lulls did occur where everything ran off with antecedent dry conditions.

Like how it moved into Caldwell from Hickory...most roads are flooded per sheriff on Facebook. High rain producers overcoming flash flood guidance.

Several mudslides and trees down in Wilkes per online breaking news.

Next batch in SC is now being warned for Wilkes, Warning says “serious flooding possible” with multiple inches.

New development occurring over Charlotte is expected to pivot into Boone NC. Straight into the heart of the High Risk.

If Brad Panovich future radar is right...this one will be for the record books. Over 1,500 without power in Iredell now.

Mount Pleasant area of Wilkes being told to leave now.

Going to need additional warnings for Hickory NC and pretty much everyone in the High Risk due to new development of rain 1-3” per hour rates.

Nasty band this morning from Hickory to Ashe County. 2” rates. It’s now warned.

Per NAM and HRRR, another High Risk is possible from Hickory to Boone. Charlotte to Wilkesboro areas have a decent shot at 3-6” plus today.

Additional 4-8” possible...think by Tuesday Watauga will have some 20” amounts total. Probably not the wettest spot tho, that’s likely in GSP zones.

Really hated this “tilt” of West-north-west..very stubborn so areas just east are missing out.

Damages are going to be absurd. I’ve lost count at how many vehicles are now totaled from the flood in Wilkes and nearby counties. Hundreds if not thousands of vehicles totaled. Be careful about buying from this area for sometime.
