Presidential Election 2024

You can reduce the tariff burden by utilizing the inverted tariff structure. Import all of the parts/raw materials into the US, assemble the finished goods within a US FTZ then sell the item domestically with only a single tariff placed on that single good vs tariffs imposed on all goods used. This keeps the COGS down on items vs the ballooning effect of having to pay a tariff on all parts of the whole. Personally I don't think we see a flat tariff without some type of adjustments to taxes to offset income vs outputs or there being some other type of offset.

I wouldn't be shocked if a flat tariff never happens. There are still a lot of unanswered questions around the 10-20% that was said imo that I haven't found the answer to. Is it a +10% on the existing tariff or is it only to 10. In a lot of cases if it's only going to 10% that's not a significant increase since many items have existing tariffs in the 5-8% range. What is going to happen to items like clothing that generally average over 10 do they come back to 10? That would be a big win for non domestic producers. What happens to antidumping tariffs? If they go back to 10 that would likely make non domestic producers cheaper.

The original trump tariffs on China didn't have as huge of an impact since many American producers were already looking at other SE Asian suppliers so they are werent single sourced anyway. In a backward way it probably helped with the covid lockdowns since many businesses had started to source from other countries which meant they were able to still import goods while China was locked down.

I know this is a TLDR post but I think that getting more info on how any tariff would be imposed is what we really need before drawing conclusions
Thank you, don’t shame the TLDR posts they offer more substance than 90% of the rage bait people post!

From the parts I've heard this election cycle, from Trump, income taxes, tax credits, and more tax incentives for American production is the answer to the import tariffs increased costs.

Trump also said the tariff isn't going to just be "100% tariff" on American companies manufacturing out of the country. It's more a long the lines of he's going to use tariffs to squeeze them to move production back to the USA via something like 10, 20, 30, 40% etc over time.

Trump knows that an overall large tariff increase with no tax incentives/changes for consumers won't go so well, so we will have to see his proposal details.

I can't wait until the mass deportations begin!!!
I don’t see how that could even be undertaken, it just won’t happen. I believe he will crack down on immigration sure but deport what? 20 ? 25 million illegals? Good luck. Only way it could be remotely feasible would require some serious uses of force and would be highly immoral… it ain’t happening …

Kinda wild , a criminal for president who can pardon himself ….
He’s still got those state charges though but appeals and apellate courts may dismiss all of it. Alan Dershowitz has an awesome podcast about this stuff. I trust him on this above anyone on law. Go listen to The Dershow he’s straight as an arrow. No bias.

That is a strange person who is running a "fan account". They probably aren't mentally well before the election, much less after. I hope they find the help they need.

I saw someone else mention that in the comments.

It's hard to tell though, because there have been celebrities who've lashed out that way.

I'm too lazy to walk through 95+ pages.

“Not everything is about an economic theory, right? If we broke up the big banks tomorrow, and I will, if they deserve it, if they pose a systemic risk, I will. Will that end racism?” - Hilary Clinton to Bernie Sanders, 2016

And with that, Dems went fully all in with identity politics. Bernie was cast aside, likely illegally (I'm still salty about it), a fracture the party has still yet to fully recover from. I will go to my grave with the theory Bernie would have blasted Trump in the election of 2016. Anyway, we see the full fruits of identity politics come to bear last night. Lots of progressive voices are claiming misogany, racism, etc. Really? Hilary won the popular vote in 2016. Biden/Harris got 81 million votes in 2020. It appears Harris will gain more votes than Hilary did in 2016. And as we dig into how people voted, those same people who voted for Hilary, Obama and Biden/Harris turned on Harris. Dems. Stop. Please, just stop. It wasn't race. It had nothing to do with Kalama being a woman. Bernie was right in 2016. Trump proved he was right again last night and the Dems have ignored these issues for 8+ years. It's those "table top" issues. I can barely afford rent. I can barely afford to feed my family. I can't afford to go to the doctor if I need to. How am I going to afford to make it to next week, next month? ~70% of voting population said Biden/Harris was taking the country in the wrong direction economically.

Dems have no one to blame but themselves. They intentionally hid Biden's physical and mental decline and doubled down on their hubris by running a closed primary. The people had no say in the matter. They then turned to one of the worst performers durnig the 2020 primary run who arguably was in their position due to identity politics, who in the end turned out to be not a whole lot better than the 2019/2020 version of herself. I'm not going to go find it, but there was an NY Times poll from the Spring of 2024 that forecasted a catastrophic disaster for Biden/Harris virtually across every issue and every demographic. Goodnes, was that poll dead on. Harris had extremely high negatives and the among the worst poll numbers for any VP in US history. The Biden Administration was likely correct in their assessment to hide her for three years and remember the rumors they might find a way to drop her from the ticket? Pepperidge Farms remembers. All that said, warts and all, I think she did about as good a job as she could do with her campaign. She was put in an impossible situation. I doubt anyone else not named Michelle Obama could have beaten Trump last night.

This isn't my endorsement of Trump. Far from it. I'll deal with that another time. Trump and the Republicans worked their gameplan to perfection. That was a thorough butt kicking in every facet possible.

The Abortion Aurgument was false flag.
Economy,Immigration ruled the roost.

Abortion is a serious issue that has been part of our political results for many years. Voters should make sure that they make their voices heard in their local elections, just like Missouri did last night.

The feds staying out of it seems the best route for the long term. It's just messy during the transfer over to the states.

Pretty much, dems wanted to pretend being progressives without actually offering anything of substance… and the only progressive amongst their midst they stabbed in the back. America has no leftist party or representation, maybe this will finally spark an impetus to change that…

Just like Trump being president again?….it ain’t happening?….it just did!
