PGA Tour 2024

Probably not. He is going to have to face these charges and will not be finishing this tournament. That assault charge is a felony and may keep him in jail for a while.
This aged badly o_O
The PGA/PGATour should never hold another golf tournament in the state of KY. What a total embarrassment, common sense should have prevailed but it didn't. I imagine the Gov is on the phone right now with these clowns to release him and drop all charges.
100% agreement. Seeing as there were already talks to remove Valhalla from the rotation, this should seal the deal. The infrastructure is piss poor and can't handle it and then this fiasco, should be out of here.

My 2c? Scotty was a credentialed member of the tournament doing as others have said, what they were told to do in the event that traffic was a mess. Pull out and go around. My guess is Scotty didn't recognize said cop was not event security since they all had the same high-vis gear on, and may have also told by another cop to just keep going to enter. The cop had an ego trip and doesn't have the IQ to assess the situation, like most do, escalated unnecessarily, including trying to break the window with a flashlight per eye witnesses, and then tried to cover his tracks by playing victim with the trip to the ER and ruined pants.

I respect you Kylo.
However, to excoriate an entire state without all of the details is unfair to the men and women of law enforcement. Perhaps they overreacted or perhaps they didn’t. They were dealing with a vehicle fatality at that particular entrance. Let’s find out the deets before demonizing an entire state. I tend to lean toward the blue because of the difficulty of the job these days.
Law enforcement has to deal with ------ people every day. I don’t care if he was in a marked PGA car. Could have been a caddy or groundskeeper for all they know.

Anyway, let’s enjoy the Championship !! 🙂
The unfortunate fatality was down the road, not at that entrance. There was 3 cops escorting him off…they knew who he was and what they were doing. Unfortunately someone is going to get fired, but I hope I am wrong, don’t like seeing people lose there job. Scottie diffused the whole situation after his round yesterday, would be stunning if charges aren’t dropped Monday.

I don’t think the PGA goes back to Valhalla. They arrested the face of the tour, humiliated him.

Colin Morikawa has been here before. If he can get a couple puts to fall tomorrow he’ll win this one

Today’s scoring as of 12:15PM EDT was averaging -1, similar to yesterday’s low scoring. And that’s with the easier back 9 finished by few that early. Could the winner have -20 or better? Quite possible! The lowest on record is Jason Day’s -20, set in 2015.

Koepka is having one of the best rounds today with -5 through 12. He’s obviously still no threat to winning at his current -9 (6 back along with 15 golfers ahead of him), but this is indicative of the easy conditions.

Who’s got the Scottie mugshot T-shirt for sale?? I want one to go with my Tiger Woods shirt! 🤘
Gonna be a good round to watch today! ⛳

Theegala made a 55 foot birdie on 1 to then tie for the lead at -15 with Schauffele and Morikawa!

And just now Schauffele made a 27 footer on 1 to lead by 1 at -16.

DeChambeau birdied 2 to go to -14 (4th).

Hovland ties Schauffele for the lead at -18 as he birdies the 12th and Xander bogeys the par 5 10th!

Hovland then birdied the 13th to become the sole leader at least for the moment. Xander has a birdie putt on 11. He made it to tie for lead.

The birdie by Bryson on 16 to go within one after his tee shot was headed far to the left, bounced off a tree, and miraculously came back into great position on the fairway. Unbelievable!

DeChambeau birdied 18 to go -20, tied for lead! Xander is still on 17.

-20 ties with Day’s -20 in 2015 for the best 72 hole score in this tourney.

He had been one of the more disliked players by a good % of golf fans, but recently Bryson seems to have turned the corner from what I’ve been observing. Like it or not, however, he’s still a showman and loves to entertain though I feel he’s good for the sport, especially since he’s been backing it up with great play in the last 2 majors and is devoted to practicing hard/giving it his all in the tourneys.

I wanted to post this video that I just discovered tonight which occurred after hole 9 on Sunday. Note the expression of the kid in yellow:

I hope people don’t lose their job…but someone, probably multiple people, will get fired over this. How charges haven’t been dropped yet is a joke. The DA should resign.

Per the video in the linked tweet below, the cop, who didn’t have his body cam on, lied:

This kind of scary...what would happen to someone in Louisville if you were an avg Joe and ran into this problem.

Keep in mind that I’m not saying that Scottie was treated wrongly because he’s the #1 golfer in the world. That shouldn’t matter as I believe in equal treatment of everyone. It is purely the video evidence that is telling me he was treated wrongly because it shows he didn’t do what the cop claimed. If Scottie really had done what the cop said (regardless of how much I had previously liked him as a golfer), then heck yeah I’d say he wasn’t being treated wrongly by the cop. Nobody is above the law. Otherwise, I’d be showing a favorable bias toward Scottie.

Grayson Murray! 🥲
RIP

Memorial (a Signature event) end of round 1 leaders:

Hadwin -6 (Canadian golfer)

Scheffler -5

Schauffele -4

Aberg -4

Conners -4

Morokawa -4

Cut will be top 50 and ties along with those within 10 of the leader. This is the last event before the US Open.

Scheffler won his 5th out of the last 8 he has entered in this amazing year! The last golfer to win 5 this early was way back in 1980 (Tom Watson). All 5 have been with very strong fields other than the LIV golfers not being in the 4 non-majors.

Today’s round averaged a very difficult +3/75 (US Open-like)! Scottie actually was +2 for the day but that was just good enough to beat Morikawa by one.

Next up, the LIV guys rejoin the PGA Tour players for the US Open at Pinehurst 2 in NC! Is anyone here going?
If Scottie wins this…..

US Open (Pinehurst, NC) conditions to be quite different from the moist, breezy conditions of the PGA. The forecast is for sunny and hot (hottest Fri with ~95) with light winds. So, greens, which are shakes like upside down bowls, will be dry/very tough. Dewpoints mainly low 60s.

Scottie is having a lousy day and is now +4 for the day/+5 for the tourney with only two holes to play. The projected cut line is +3. So, he’s in big danger of a MC though the cut line could change.

Update: All 3 finished with same scores as noted above. I noticed that the PGA Tour’s website shows a +5 cut line, which would get Scottie and Tommy in. However, that is incorrectly based on an outdated rule that players within 10 of the lead, which is -5, make it. That rule was taken away for the US Open (unlike other majors). Thus, the +5 is wrong, at least as of now.

“Prior to 2012, the U.S. Open also implemented a 10-shot rule, where any additional players within 10 shots of the lead would also make the 36-hole cut. This rule was removed…”

Further update: Due to a high enough avg score today, the cut line is on the verge of soon falling from +3 to +4. But Scottie and would still need it to drop another to +5. That could still happen.

Update: Due to poor avg scores, projected cut line now down to +4 with +5 not at all out of the question! Will Scottie be saved?

*Latest: cut line just dropped to +5 meaning Scottie and others at -5 are likely going to make the cut!

So far, ~30 players have started the 3rd round with an average of nearly +2 already on just an avg of 7 holes played. That’s indicative of very tough conditions.

Rd 1 and 2 each averaged +3.

Leaders: Aberg -5, Cantlay, Bryson, Detry: -4; Finau, Rory, Pavon: -3

Molinari made a hole in one on his last hole yesterday (9) to make the cut!

Course should be brutal today and tomorrow. I like the way they set it up. Let them eat in the first round or two, then turn the screws.

And about all they were given to eat in the first two rds were table scraps!

Of the favorites: Whereas Scottie has been disappointing, Aberg has been near perfect, especially in driving and hitting many of the greens. And Bryson has been impressive obviously.

It did turn out brutal with a +3 average. Considering that the two prior rounds were also +3 but with all golfers still playing (pre-cut), today’s was the most brutal yet.

Bryson is on fire at +7. He’s three ahead of Rory, Cantlay, and Pavon.

Rory was 2 ahead with 5 holes to play, but he missed short putts on 2 of the last holes. Bryson also missed a short putt for I think the first time the entire tourney. Bryson wins by 1 after a long bunker shot to within 4 feet! He scrambled all day from bad drives into the wire grass. His short game was outstanding!
