Pattern Oh my its July

Absolutely hammered here in the past hour. Estimate 60-70mph winds. Power went out immediately and hasn't come back.

Luckily trees did not come down.
Had significant damage over here. Possibly a tornado given reports from some neighbors. Numerous large trees down and topped with some in homed. Ended up driving through it too unfortunately. Never have I seen traffic lights go greater than a 90 degree angle in a gust.

Do you have a measurement from your weather station (I assume you have a weather station)?

A tornado would be crazy. I believe there hasn't been a tornado in this county since the 50's. I drove up and down 306 and 369 an hour ago and nothing has power. Worst debris I saw was a medium sized limb down in a parking lot.

Models and the SPC severe outlook have been horrible the last few days. Don't see how anyone can dispute that. Had storms Tuesday and nothing happened. Didn't have hardly anything yesterday and under a level 1 risk and there's a EF3 tornado. It also took too long to issue a tornado warning. Very lucky it wasn't worse in regards to fatalities.

And then today we're under a level 2 risk and no storms. Seems like the SPC was worried about how things turned out yesterday. I know there isn't a way to be perfect, but hope things are investigated about what went wrong yesterday.

Power was lost before the station could record it. I do have dashcam footage of driving into the storm but the rain on my side was so intense it was likely rain wrapped. Overall extremely intense and you'll see a lot of trees between exit 16 and setting down road damaged SW to just north of downtown Cumming on 9. Worst of what I saw was around 9/369 through 9/306 and west of that area by a couple miles

The weather station at the Public Safety Complex on Settingdown recorded a 68mph gust. The drive down Pilgrim Mill this morning revealed alot more damage than I saw yesterday. Trees down everywhere, a power pole still up at a 45 degree angle. I didn't get power back until 2:45 this morning.

I work for the county and we still have alot of down sites. All of them in north Forsyth.

Looks like you guys are getting another one tonight. Looks beefy on the HRRR model.

I would imagine that to be more slightly further west. If road signs and poles got twisted in places in addition to further damage being along there, I'm sure we either hit 70+ or had a tornado. Had a friend report a possible tornado as well in addition to my neighbor seeing rotation. Radar did have a notch in it too so I wouldn't be surprised if it had a brief spin up. My drive to work this morning showed me the lines down and lines with trees on them are nowhere near being resolved. Many laying in roads still unattended.

Nice and comfy in GA today. Look at these beautiful dewpoints.

We had severe weather here in Athens GA yesterday. A neighbor took this photo of what looks like a downburst. The storm produced a LOT of downed trees (including very large ones) and localized damage to structures. There was a lot of lightning associated with the system.

I did look at the relative velocity maps about 30 mins before this came through and did not see much in the way of opposing winds / potential rotation.athensga.jpg

Seems to be a theme here. Seriously though the eps for the past 2 summers has done this past D5 and we've rarely seen the heat verify. Late next week has potential to get quite hot but the theme since mid may has been to pump heights in the SE and extend the heat ridge east only to gradually cool and lower heights closer to verification

My goodness...we going to look like Texas up in here.

Good grief....Maybe it cools off and we get some relief with highs in 60's come this winter....

I’ve never seen the EPS print a 100F mean high temp…ever

Are we Phoenix ?

Standard stuff around here. Yesterday was hyped up to be a rough day with plenty of storms and we never got a drop. Had a 20% chance today and got hit 2 times around 6 pm and getting more rain now.

Probably won't rain the rest of the summer there. Hopefully, the Fall will produce. Or maybe get lucky with a landfalling tropical system or something.

High of 83 here after noisy storms at 6am after the last 3 days had heat indices over 100. I don't think I've ever seen such a wet summer since I've been in the Plains
