Its raining in the same places as yesterday and last Friday, it's really incredible
My residence is one place that is an exception to your observation. I guess I'll take my .46 inches of rain that fell yesterday and be happy with it. It does seem lately that the same areas get rain over and over and the rest of us are high and dry.

Yep but it just wont happen again, I have never seen it so hard to sustain storms around here in the summer. Sure we have had some rainy days but its just seems different this year with the seemingly great setups just not doing nearly what they should.
Rainy days, what's that?

The wilmington airport has made incredible progress since the 2nd week of July. Largely aided by a 2 day period with over 7 inches. They've added 20 inches to three totals. I'm roughly 5 miles west of them and missed those big totals. I've gotten plenty but not nearly as much as they have.

To put the drought in perspective they've added 20 inches and still 5 inches behind for the year. That's how bad off we were.Screenshot_20260829_070254_Chrome.jpg

Its still raining in the same places this morning
I use to lose my mind when I heard some old timer say dumb stuff like "thunderstorms don't like crossing the tar river".

Now I find myself saying dumb stuff like storms sure do like to stay over and east of the river as I sit here this morning watching yet another storm drop 2 inches of rain 2 miles east of me KLTX - Super-Res Reflectivity 1, 8_43 AM.png

Assuming the models are directionally correct wouldn't be too surprising to see a mcs type wind event sometime between Friday and Sunday approaching from the N or NW. Biggest question marks I see right now would be low level moisture recovery after the heat ridge starts to weaken and time of arrival

So looks like gonna end August with .66. I can't find any info anywhere of a drier August here
We had a good August. All this running water gets the Gators excited. This was one that was filmed at Greenfield lake in Wilmington this weekend. Ive got pictures of him before. Gators really like to move around when the waters are up.

That's nice

Saturday looks good for severe weather across the state, Friday does if something can really get going over the Mid Atlantic and survive into a slightly more hostile environment. I get the feeling though the actual outcome is going to be big MCS type system across Va that exits near Moyock and Va Beach, outflow pushes to the SC border, nothing on Saturday
