Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

I can't find where I said it, but I said no more than one hour of mix at RDU. Even though no measurable precipitation has been reported, they have reported rain/snow for two hours. I was wrong, and I will eat my two dozen bags of crow - with 10" of snow :)

The main reason for this is because of the system slowing down, which is going to work out very, very well for many of us in central NC. I'll take being wrong in order to get more snow. I can even become the official wrong prediction guy if this will work every time! The latest HRRR is mind-boggling.

The 11am to 3pm time period looks amazing for us to really get into some fairly heavy stuff

There getting micro precipitation. It can mix all day at those rates. Good thing is, like you said, as soon as intensity picks up, big snow!

Waiting on snow might be the equivalent of sitting in the waiting room at the dentist

Not sure which is better. Most of our winter events happen overnight and we wake up like Christmas morning. Will be nice If we can get a few hours of heavy snow and we get to watch it.

FWIW to the people downstream who are usually on the line in southeastern events, temps have been a little bit of an issue so far upstream. Procede with caution

31 degrees with 1/2" and snowing good. Temp just got below freezing. 2" should be attainable. Good luck, guys and girls

Drove through the transition zone on the way to Durham which was straight from drizzle to moderate snow.
