I started going through the RDU metars but eventually wanted to die so I stopped. I do remember the massive wedge during the US Open at Pinehurst that's about it
Couple of hail reports around Johnson City, thinking that’s probably graupel

Damn yeah Gfs advertising only a couple days are able to hit the 80s through the entire period.. mid to low 50s are more often seen .. ? the cold comes to me ?

It was really cold, drizzly, and ugly for days in June 99. Like highs in the low 60s
I believe there were a number of storms throughout the summer of ‘99. Of course that set up a very saturated ground and full rivers in eastern NC before Dennis and Floyd came through back to back in September.
And we have lightning already .. here we go 
One thing interesting about that ‘99 pattern is that it went into a 2nd year LaNina with the mild winter you would expect outside the 2-3 weeks in late January/early February that everyone remembers.

Those showers and storms are so close yet we have full sunshine right now .. a bit chilly with a breeze too ... is this the new summer? (Lol) but Fr these storms have to fire with the amount of clear air in their path
Probably going to start getting hail reports from the cell north of Durham soon

That's actually an extremely good guess, the 12z GSO sounding showed wet-bulb zero heights around 5000 feet. That's unusually low for this time of the year

Freezing levels out there today in NC are on-par w/ what we typically see in the middle of winter.

Better be thankful we don't have a ton of surface-based CAPE out there today, or we'd have gorilla hail everywhere.
