The only things holding this day back from being the equivalent of a July day are 70+ degree dewpoints and no wind

By process of rounding… made it to 90 today (89.6)

Made it to 86 today here. 85 right now and even with the breeze I find this a bit too warm for my liking. I’m sure this is a record high once more
This back and forth is beginning to remind me of 1989. That was a very wild February through early May, capped off with a tornado outbreak and a May freeze.

RDU hit 89.6F around 4 today. Do they round that up to 90F in climate records? If so thats the earliest 90 we have gotten

If KRDU does round that temperature up, this will break the first ninety degree day of the year record by one day.

It looks like 18z NAM / GFS backed off a little for tomorrow's "snow chances" across N NC / VA. Still curious if we could see some wet flakes fly for the border counties tomorrow, though. The RGEM has nothing and isn't particularly close, so you figure it's probably going to be right.

I didn’t check my thermometer again during the heat of the day. But KSAV had a record high of 91, easily beating the old record of 87! KSVN also hit 91. Summer’s here!

KATL tied its record high of 82.

HRRR has backed off some, but I am still a little curious about the flakes chance tomorrow. To go from mid 80s to seeing flakes 18 hours later would be pretty wild if it happens. NAM is not real excited about it here but looked better east. pretty wild if someone sees it happen!

That's a good question. Apparently they didn't round up and kept the official high at 89.

I'm not sure the threshold requiring a 90 high. Maybe it's 90.0? If we hit 89.9, would they have rounded up? I dunno.

Looks like most places will reach their high for tomorrow just after midnight. Currently, 10 pm temps are 74 at GSP, 78 at CLT and RDU, and 80 at CAE. These current temps would be well above average highs but they are unbelievable for 10pm. With only 2 hours of cooling to go, tomorrow's highs will officially still be way above average.

KSAV had a torchy 89 high today, which missed the 1974 record by only 2. What happened to spring? None this year?
It's got to have something to do with Blarney and the blood moon, Clovis points, Otzi and the plastic bits found in the guts of critters from 7 miles down. It just ain't right.
