Tropical Major Hurricane Isaias

Confirmed landslide in McDowell county on highway 226A. Just heard of another one in McDowell county but can’t confirm just yet. Right at 6 inches of rain now and still more to go.
Flash flood warning now in effect. Multiple roads through McDowell county are impassable.

More info and unfortunately lot more rain to come tonight. Mcdowell county...

The Crooker Creek Community has reported 5.5 inches of rainfall. Sugar Hill is reporting 5.18 inches. Old Fort is reporting 4.87 inches.

Officials said there is roughly one foot of water across Lytle Mountain Road in the Sugar Hill Community, as well as one foot of water across Old Fort-Sugar Hill Road.

11:57PM: Mitchell County Emergency Management says
“One lane of NC 226A near the Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland is closed by a landslide due to heavy rain. Crews have been dispatched to clear the slide. Use caution traveling on this road and be aware that work on this will be going on for a while.”

Numerous other landslides are happening in McDowell County too.

Holy cow, I was just awoken from a deep sleep by a heavy thunderstorm located within a feeder band of ET Isaias! All of yesterday afternoon when it was so unstable once the sun came out, I had only light rain and no thunder. It came early today instead while still dark starting ~1/2 hour ago per radar loop I just saw! Fascinating!

Edit: This was as of 6:34AM ET, when it started (the orientation of the thin line has caused it to train right over my location for ~45 minutes since):
IMG_2886.jpeg

Edit: I just checked and it’s still 78.1F even after 55 minutes worth of rain (~1/2”+) fell from this line thus showing how high the wet bulb is!

Edit #2: It appears I got ~0.75” from this line and another ~0.1” from other light rain since yesterday. So, together with the ~0.75” I got on Fri, I received a grand total of ~1.6” from Isaias’ influence.
