Pattern June’s Drought Dialogues

2.47" yesterday which gives me 4.22" for June and 45.60 for the year. We'll hit our yearly average by the end of June if this keeps up.

I got .85 inches here at the house today which puts me at 3.06 inches for the week so far. The June drought has yet to materialize but that may change when the heat returns next courtesy of a strong high pressure ridge buildling over the eastern states next week.

Since I posted this morning..

Cloudy & Thunder all day, with light to heavy showers..

Still ongoing..

Today's high 80º
low 74º
humidity 96%
dew point 78.1º
rainfall 0.73 inch
pressure 30.27 inch
South winds @15 mph..

Still not done with the storms here but yeah the heat is coming and it's gonna suck as usual

I guess at least working overnights I can sleep through the worst part of the days 🤣 but when the dewpoint is 70 at 7am

Another day, another migraine. Not even noon and the same thing is happening as yesterday!

wen thunder & lighting & rain stop?
non-stop here in Topsail since 4 AM this morning
Yeah no kidding. On like round number 3 or 4 and heard thunder from the southport storm about 430am. Next rounds are in SC if they survive the worked over atmosphere.

Today had 3 periods of rain:

-During the afternoon, a moderate, fairly short thunderstorm with a good bit of nearby CTG lightning but only modest rainfall.

-A band of very heavy thunderstorms came through during the evening that lasted longer likely producing 2”+ of rainfall. My street flooded and there was this:

0700 PM FLOOD SAVANNAH 32.05N 81.08W
06/14/2025 CHATHAM GA EMERGENCY MNGR

EMERGENCY MANAGER REPORTS SEVERAL FLOODED STREETS
ACROSS SAVANNAH: VICTORY DRIVE, HABERSHAM STREET, PRICE
STREET, BULL STREET, WATERS AVENUE, HODGSON MEMORIAL
DRIVE, EISENHOWER DRIVE, AND DERENNE AVENUE.

-Areas of mainly light rain came through a little later.

Edit: After looking at Cocorahs, I estimate a total of a whopping ~3” yesterday here!

This gets me to a wet ~4.25” for June 1-13. May was also very wet here with 8.7”, more than double the normal.

Thats the thing with these setups, some places will get 8" and others wont get a drop hardly....rained all around here yesterday but nothing IMBY....
Seems like the same places always win, Im just complaining I guess but it does suck to be at fractional inches halfway through a summer month

Usually im getting split and missed and that happened yesterday but the difference was instead of me getting a tenth and the winners getting an inch I got 2 inches and they got 4.

That short popup has been quickly followed by a line of heavy thunderstorms coming in with frequent CTG lightning.

Edit 9:15PM: That ended up lasting a couple of hours with more filling in after the line. My initial rough estimate for today is 1”+ after yesterday’s ~3”. Interestingly, although yesterday’s was much heavier, I had no rain in the garage from it. However, this evening’s did give me a decent amount in one corner though not too bad.
