This is a model ? So recon flight is going out to get real time data. So its an NOAA (US) aircraft gathering data Does info get shared amongst all models or is it just the American models (GFS) ect.. so do you still go with Euro or do you go with GFS ?
Just a stiff breeze over a slice of the North Pole probably gonna need your rain boots
Other countries get access to the recon data and can decide whether to assimilate it or not.

If you just look at the surface map right there, you'd think you're staring down the barrel of a big snowstorm.
That high is spread out giving a good cold push to set up the CAD and is still at 1044 mb.

Hot take. Icon is improved with the trough dropping down from western Canada which is more critical than what’s happening with the Baja wave.

High at 1047 is still pretty strong, unlike the euro I think. But it’s the icon.
We'll need to see how it ends up trending compared to the last run or two.

More ridging here is good when compared to 18z. Keeps less trough dumping from happening out west. And forces the lobe below it more to the east.

The EURO still had a 1042 over PA and 1044 over Wisconsin. I think we have a legit chance to see this verifying at 1040 over the northeast

Raging sleet storm southern half nc into upstate. Germans did good work. They where up there with the ukmet and canadians last night early this morn. Not sure what it spat out at lunch, supper time

icon is absolute sleet bomb for Charlotte
ICON is mid 20's and ZR for Atlanta. Ticked a little colder at the surface actually 
Yeah ICON sorta improves slightly as far as overall cold and keeps the overamping down some and cold rain concerns for most everyone the issue is that per ICON has always been frz rain in areas outside TN and NC....which we need jogs the other way
So I guess the next few GFS cycles will have more accurate runs because of this?
Temps in teens all day Sunday on the ICON, gotta be a ton of sleet with that. Is there a sleet map with ICON on any of the model sites?

The cold back west to Ark areas is actually improved it appears more snow south now just figure out how to make that happen eastward again less amping

Okay ICON pulled me slightly off the ledge ngl the only thing i had going for me was state winning today
One thing I’ll say about some of these sleet looks that we’ve been seeing is that a good thick 2-3 inches of sleet will stick around longer and be good sledding for the kids. Personally, I am hoping for at least some period of good sleet. We just put a metal roof on our house in the fall and I’d love to hear a heavy sleet hitting it

I still believe we get a big time front end thump of snow in the upstate and south of I40 in NC. This was literally step for step exactly like Jan 2022 from a surface standpoint. We’ve got the CAD building in nicely ahead of the storm which would aid considerably in a nice FGEN driven snow

This ICON warm nose is nuts for RDU. 2km deep and in the 40s above the surface but at 17F at ground level.

If you’re wondering on sleet ratios. It’s generally 3:1. So these 2-3” QPF bombs if it was all sleet would be 6-9”
