Rather impressive to see GFS so consistent. If 00z is the same, that will be over 48 hours of general consistent placements.

a ridiculous surface high
Unfortunately on the 0Z Icon, almost all of the ~2.3” of qpf that falls after temps go <32 fall as freezing rain as you’re in the S portion of that orange area and 850s are mainly +3 to +7, typically too warm for sleet. The 18Z Euro otoh had significantly colder 850s that tells me to question having it all ZR.
Baja trying to get more involved here

You want a little interaction to help get some additional QPF but you don’t want it to go crazy or we will amp the hell out of this and get a ton of ice and drive the snow transition north

There won’t be a short on QPF that’s for sure

If anything, having some limited interaction with the low only feeds more energy into it. More QPF for sure.

I am in south central Alabama and we haven’t had measurable snow in YEARS. That’s what I mean by Deep South lol not the gulf coast.
precip less diffuse- has less of a "snake" look and more like a "snake that ate a deer" look...

I'm thinking 80% snow here in Raleigh. Accumulations of 10-14".

Terrible ice storm.. I just hope either the snow trends south or we trend to just rain. Although that looks unlikely.. Ice appears likely.
i get your disappointment but in the grand scheme you're still right that this is fantastic, unheard of consistency. the historic ones have this quality

Yeah the idea of the southern shift might be coming to an end. Full blown interaction with the Baja
Pretty similar to the Euro here. Had to expect it would move towards that solution
