Same time frame Gfs shows us in 60s right ? Yikes ! So split the middle it’s going to be 65 in Charlotte and 44 in Raleigh. 53 SDs house and 58 Fayetteville . 36 in Richmond with mixed precip north of there .Looks like the euro is about to show a ice storm, big CAD, low level cold is filtering in at the same time View attachment 66573View attachment 66574

It does look like there will be more blocking north of Alaska this time around.Very similar to early January View attachment 66596

Yeah that’s true, still worries me if we lose the favorable Atlantic with that look, but betting against the -NAO has been hard this yearIt does look like there will be more blocking north of Alaska this time around.
This seems to be a setup that could give us one of those storms where we are in the upper 50s or into the 60s one day and then the next be dealing with significant snow or ice. Getting a big day to day drop like that with a winter storm is one of my favorite experiences because it doesn’t happen much. I still remember the day before the February 1994 ice storm hit this area, being outside after school in shorts with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s... then the next afternoon driving home after an early dismissal with temperatures in the upper 20s with heavy sleet falling. This pattern really is teetering on a knife's edge between a total dumpster fire & ice box w/ almost no room for in between. If the -NAO doesn't go away, some of that really cold air over NW N America triggered by a -WPO would definitely filter our way.
