There’s some snow type qualities to the sleet I’m getting here. Definitely more powdery than your typical sleet. I’m about to investigate with a flashlight. It’s absolutely hammering here. Approaching an inch on the ground and 21.8/20.6.

Not far from you. Down the road from LKQ, heavy sleet.
28.8 with a very light ZR sleet mix. In a bit of a lull, awaiting the I-85 blob.

I'm heading off to bed, but sleet continues to fall outside. Decent rates, I guess. It kind of just looks foggy when you look outside, but then you open the door and you hear it.

Right after I posted this and the heavier precip has flipped us back to sleet here in White House. This continued sleet or somehow going above freezing is the only way we avoid disaster. Temp is 26.6 which has slowly been climbing from 20 degrees around 7:30 pm

Elevated surfaces are getting a bit icy, but just took a bag of cat crap out to the garbage and the walkway was fine
Good news for those in Atlanta. Looks like SW of Montgomery is a good lull in the moisture. So maybe we can get a break?

Probably 80% sleet, 20% pixie dust snow right now. 15 degrees and holding steady as a rock.

Just got back from a quick drive and my car is a block of ice that fast. Accumulating in trees, powerlines, signs, etc. Roads are wet but okay, a hit a few bridges that made me uneasy. Back home now.

It sounds like a war zone here. Trees and limbs falling constantly and we have a long way to go yet. This area is going to be devastated. Freezing rain now and 30 degrees
alright well looks like we flipped back to sleet when the precip woke up. Didn’t measure but I didn’t see much ZR accretion when I quickly poked my head outside. 21/18
I did run into some sleet mixing in while I was out as ai could hear it pinging my glass roof top in the car. I find that interesting considering how strong that warm nose is.

Same here. 28.3 . I expect to drop another degree or two as the heavier returns come overhead shortly. I certainly didn't expect sleet.
I'm not sure when it switched over here but the entire ground and road is white!

How rare is this storm? Do we ever start out as RZ, and transition to pixie dust and sleet? Rare bird this one.....

No freaking way, 28.2 and light ZR, sleet, and flurries? I thought I was hallucinating!
The air is super cold so that is saving us from disaster at the moment.
I mean, when those returns were in Bama, it was like 60 there, lol. But all bets are off when it gets here.

Woke up just to look outside and it’s heavy sleet mixing with light freezing rain. The HRRR has us flipping to totally ZR sometime in the next couple of hours
This is incredible, hvy sleet/pixie dust been going on for hours. I’m just amazed it’s not hvy snow at 13.8

Also the most recent HRRR is holding at close to an inch of liquid here with the lulls and what’s already fallen. I’d say we are well on our way from a QPF standpoint.
19F. Big deal for upstate will be if that daytime lull is real, because that’s probably going to be primetime for ZR. If it’s not, could be bad news
actually. Gust of wind just blew against window. That sounds like sleet vs before. Pretty heavy return here.
But hell no. I’m not opening the door again to check. Dementors ‘n sh— out there! Nope. Enjoying being warm while I can! I can see a couple pine trees sagging a bit. Keep that cold miserable out of the house as long as possible!
If it were snowing. All the doors would be open. But this? This is some north Scotland horrible cold miserable. It’s different.
