Wintry Jan 23-27 Winter Storm Obs

41/24.3 💀 we never do winter weather right. we can't even coax ourselves into a diabolical ice storm
😄 Don't worry, if we don't somehow manage to pull it out it won't be a temp issue. Upstream cold and dry temps are coming. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how fast boundary layer winds are, before conditions in greenwood get here and about 4 to 4.5 hours before conditions around rock hill sc south of charlotte gets here. I have hope we can help ourselves a lot if the axis of heaviest precip stays just north of us. We still get more than enough but nothing like north of 85 just because more precip falls there. I have my fingers crossed.

(Surf City), On the Coast..
Woke up too temps at 48F at around 5:30am

current Temps are now at 32F
humidity 66%
dew point 22.5º
Wind NNE @17mph

Brent, I think you hit double digits easily! That hole fills in over you and the blossoming near panhandle, you’re gonna do ok! View attachment 188486

There's definitely a lot of hype about it

Or people saying it was always the big event

I mean I guess I did kind of like it better on the models at some point

We do have a long way to go still

Yeah Brent, I also think you do really well. I haven't paid much attention to your part of the storm but the batch you got last night was just a teaser, the real event rolls through with the precip now developing in west texas. You'll get your thump and we all in the SE will be jealous! Be sure to keep posting picture as the real event gets going

We’ve been hovering around 33 for the past couple of hours. NNE breeze too.

50/32 in James Island. Looks like the best chance in Charleston area is northern Berkeley County late late night tonight (like after 3am) for light ZR

44/24 here in Northern Conyers. Surprised how warm it is atm tbh...still think it won't matter when the wedge really begins to drive through, but it is keeping surface temperatures a bit higher which means it might take more to begin efficient accretion.

Wedge is definitely working, even all the way to my location. 45/31.5 and 2.5 mph NE winds. That's the perfect direction for cold air transport. Gusty winds here. Wet bulb is dropping, now 39.2, so we have a lot of work to do to get a freezing rain/drizzle threat later tonight.

Generator operations have moved to the front yard where it is clear of trees. Been building this sh*t box for the last half hour. 5k running watts total on the smoke machines. I don’t think we freeze. Jimmy is gear’d up

Cold. Ice cold. Stiff wind out of the north. Be ready to act quick tomorrow IMG_7914.jpeg
