Under very heavy returns you flip to intense sleet. If it lets up even a little it flips to ZR. 23/23

Georgia just crossed 100k without power. South Carolina crossed 20k. Spiking up fast.

Yes I am aware of that, thank you. What I meant to say was temp is fluctuating back and forth between 32 and 33 so freezing rain and rain.

We're at 670' and that may be a factor in this event with how shallow the remaining cold is... closer the escarpment means more ZR even under equal returns along I-85
I took my dog's out about 30 mins ago it was a rain/sleet mix,
Just checked again and it was all sleet and sleeting moderately.
When heavy returns come in it switches to all or mostly sleet,

Other than about a 10 minute burst of extremely intense sleet it’s literally just a standard shower. It’s perfect for ice accretion

the rates lightened up and now i'm about 40/60 sleet/freezing rain. but that was freaking awesome while it lasted. That was probably the heaviest sleet i've ever seen. Temp has risen to 29...coldest temps in georgia have consistently been athens and eastward today. I'm a bit surprised it's not been colder in gainesville but the best i can tell is that there was a wind shift with the line of heavy precip and it brought in warmer air that was just to the north and west (along with warm rain). Indeed gainesville's winds shifted to the north. Winds here turned from the northeast and was gusting out of the northwest for quite a while...now it's calm.
