Wow! Cullman, AL warmed up to 41 earlier and has since dropped back to 32. I checked the NWS and im pretty sure they weren’t even forecasting them to drop below 40 again today.

2nd UNC Asheville balloon just launched. Warm nose has increased from 2°C to 3.8°C in last 3 hours. It is above freezing from 1540 m to 2926 m.
RDU 23 / -6 as of 6pm advisory. WB = 17. I do tend to think we will overperform on cold surface temps at this point. A lot of the modeling doesn’t have us getting under 20 except the ICON and a few others whereas I think that’s pretty likely given actual OBS. Maybe I’ll eat pie!

I can confirm that for now it's light rain 38 over 20
rain drops are picking up now for sure, temps are holding steady at 42. The wedge hasn't made it this far yet.
EDIT: As the rain gets heavier, starting to see downward movement with temperature and DP. 41.4/26.9. Maybe the wedge has arrived. LOL since the DP is dropping instead of rising.
Now down to 39.5 and still falling, DP steady at 27.

Not indicative of the sleet/rain debate yet. Gotta let the 925mb layer wet bulb first. 2015 started out with light rain too.
You thinking a good long duration of sleet to start? I didn’t get a chance to read your thoughts earlier. I’m in Simpsonville/Fountain inn area?

It's starting to rain. 41/29, but the wet bulb is still 35.
Nice! Hoping it holds together as it crosses the Chatham/Wake line. Trying to get all 4 precip types on this one. Collect 'em all.

CAD is not done. Been a longtime since ive witnessed a classic CAD. Seemed like they were common in the 80s and 90s. Maybe we're going to get back to a good pattern for them again for decades. Snow and sleet preferred of course.

Had 2 inches of snow, that is now sleet and freezing rain. It's 23 degrees, I got up to 25, and dropped all the way to 17 when it was wet bulbing.
The second image was about 20 minutes before it went sleet. There was a burst of very heavy snow.

Getting some decent sleet here now. Temp continues to fall, now down to 24
It snowed for 8 minutes, sleet is already mixing in.

Light snow
In a span of half an hour I have went from 42.0 to 38.7 and it continues to slowly fall as this very light rain comes down. DP has risen to 29.5, but I expect it will start dropping back down as the evening progresses. E wind is picking up as well.
