Jan. 17-18, 2026 SE Winter Weather Threat

Very weird set up around here at 10-11am. We’ve got great saturation and precip falling in the upper levels… then a few thousand feet thick dry layer…. Then the low level, lee side, meso low lift/sauturation and precip from 800-850mb to the surface. Have to think the low level stuff will help snow reach the ground from the upper level stuff.

Yeh we aren’t cooling well at all here in the Midlands. Temp is 43.7 with dews right behind it. Might take me & my husky down to GA shortly to hopefully see some cotton ball flakes. Good luck today to everyone. Hopefully we all rage in the coming 1-2 weeks

HRRR continues to say no snow for anyone in NC and it's the only model. But I'm starting to think it is correct, congrats to those that saw and will see snow. I'm out for several hours, behave 😁
