Misc Jalapeño July

The same places just continue to rack up, while other places can not get a drop. This will be the case into Sept unless a tropical system changes it. I fully do not expect 1 more drop here this month. August may very well be rainless here.
OMG

It's been this way for 2 straight summers now, so why should this one be different. It took big events in Sept of both years to break the pattern and I don't think it's going to be any different now.

Pouring yet again here (although it took a while). I think I and whatalife have replaced Storm5 rain wise for the moment. Although it hasn't quite been every day, it COMES DOWN when its here.

Maybe a little science, or some pattern observation or comparisons to past years?
Was it ever different? If so, when and why? What is different now? Particularly this time of year?
This bitching for the sake of just constant bitching gets you nor anyone else even a half step forward, and really it's more like two steps back.
No one here can change the weather.
How's about commenting on the whys and wherefores?
Personally - never driven from Columbia through Newberry to Hendersonville this time of year without being amazed at the dryness - done it 75 times the last 30 years ... nothing new. SC is hot.
;)

I only got 3" of rain tonight. That brings my total to 5.2" of rain over the last 2 days

You have been very rain deprived recently. It's getting to the point where you believe the worst weather will be permanent lol. That's not the case. Last summer was an oddity and the one before was building up to it. Either that or you are just living with a magnifying glass over you. Lighten up and realize that you aren't going to stay dry for ever.

The 18z GFS says the worst of the heat will be in Miss and AL. It's showing 110+ there, but I don't see that happening. It'll still be 98-101 though if the 850 temps verify.

Last summer (July specifically) wasn't like what this summer has been for me lol. We blew past our TOTAL rain total for July 2016 this year (which was a healthy total)...in two separate storms in two straight days (7.2 inches to be exact and the total last year for me was 5.xish inches in July). This keeps up (still raining but it's let up from absolutely pouring)...might pull it off again (although it'd be three separate storms in two days this time).

Guess my rain totals are going up a little more. It seems to be raining again

Craziness! Just picked up another 1.6" of rain since about 9:00pm and it's still raining. Up to 6.8" of rain since yesterday

Still not a drop here. 1 more chance today and then it's over for the next 10 days or more. If it won't rain, we may as well break some major heat records just to have a little excitement around here.

Robert at WXsouth sees this lasting 2 weeks with temps possibly going well over 100. Get ready for a repeat of 2007.

Too much moisture in the ground to see record heat, IMO! Even if your backyard is a desert, there's so much moisture around the SE, it will keep the heat from getting out of control.

I think the 98-103 range is a good bet. Its really difficult for most parts of the Carolinas to go above 105 and nothing really makes me think this is an exception to that case either. Plenty of low 100s but probably limited records

With that being said, we got a big rain overnight apparently. With just a few sprinkles in the afternoon, looks like areas around us got anywhere from 1-3 inches last night. Gwinnett is under a flash flood warning. When I got to work the bathroom was flooded again haha.

Saw that and checked the 24 hour radar and saw about 4 to 6 hours ago it rained a ton. Glad it did especially over the lake.

I think its funny how the people who continue to get rain and near normal temps want to make a big deal out of people saying anything to the contrary. I guess my mid 90s and limited rain for most of this month are fake news.

Also, while I think saying 2 weeks of 100s is crazy its literally going to be 5 days of 98+ for much of the area which IS actually a heatwave as much as some try to say its not

Who said anything about this week not being a heatwave ? I just find the comments like no rain through August or we are headed for another drought completely baseless. Sure it's gonna be hot this week but there is nothing that suggest this pattern is gonna last for months on end. It's a tired shtick

Are they exaggerated? Yes. Baseless? No. Just look at the precip totals from the 6z GFS through 210 hours....thats pretty crappy then given the fact we are in convective season you know the totals afterward are a broadbrush so some folks may make it to August without rain.

Good Lord! The whining and complaining on this board. I really think it's worse during the summer then in winter.

I agree. It's not pleasant coming and seeing people saying excessive drought and heat is coming and will be here to stay. I see heat is coming and so is somewhat dryer weather. After all, the hottest day this summer could be Friday with a high of 95 in North GA. When that's all someone is posting and isn't putting in input to anything else but whining and exaggerating, it gets tiring.

Please elaborate

No need to get upset. I was only having a little fun with those that are experiencing less than ideal conditions this summer. Kind of like those that get snow in winter act during the winter

Comments have been made of a heatwave lasting the rest of the summer . Those of baseless , yes despite dry runs of the Gfs op for some areas nothing suggests a dry 4-8 week period .

It's a weather discussion board after all. Discussion is what it's all about . Multiple opinions are what makes discussing the weather so much fun . How boring would it be if everyone agreed on everything
