Misc Jalapeño July

The Euro has a 594+ ridge over the southeast from day 4 right on through day 10 with 850 temps up to 23c at times. 100+ temps likely if this verifies. The hottest temps would be in SC and NC. Gonna need tropical systems to dislodge this pattern. Without Hermine and Matthew, all of September and most of October of last year would have been much warmer.

With that mentality if it were not for that damn warm nose last winter , January and February would have been much snowier ..........

Should have , would have , could have

Yep, actually over 4 at my house. Only the second time in 25 years I have seen our street covered in water. Spent most of last night helping neighbors empty their basement/playroom of furniture toys etc. Water was coming up into the house through the baseboards.

The heaviest this morning is just barely north of me but moving this way. May be swimming to Church in a few. Someone please turn the faucet off.

Man, if we can get this much rain everyday in the winter time, then we would score. Talk about good snow days Lol!!

I've now seen enough to feel very confident that SAV will have its incredible 18th month in a row of warmer than normal this month!!
Also, ATL is very likely going to start a new streak of warmer than normal. Gainesville, FL, is only leaning very slightly warmer than normal right now thanks to the prolific rains of recent weeks though dewpoints remain uncomfortably sweaty high unfortunately thanks in part to that rain. It is probably best to walk inside for exercise right now! Even the thick cooling bamboo walls of the botanical gardens are no match for the sweaty dew points there.

Weatherwise this is that time of the year where we just have to grin and bear it. This too shall pass.

Thankfully it's long range, but the 12z GFS has 850 temps up to 26c over parts of the southeast with northwest flow. That would put parts of NC and SC close to 110.

Clearly you don't realize that 850 temps never always correlate to surface temps. The 850s are way above ground and are driven differently than surface temps are. Just look at how warm noses work in winter. It can work the same way any time of year. Just look at the Skew T charts.

Eh +26c 850 is pretty extreme and would correlate to well over 100 at the sfc

Larry,
I'd hate to be making the drive from JAX to SAV right now ...

or Valdosta to Macon, for that matter ...

Right in between

Right at 2.3 thanks to a couple of heavy storms first of the montth but last 7-10 days have been fairly dry. And the heat this week basically wiped that out so I know your place is hurting

Weird storm formation around GSP , neat, but still no rain! :(

The same places just continue to rack up, while other places can not get a drop. This will be the case into Sept unless a tropical system changes it. I fully do not expect 1 more drop here this month. August may very well be rainless here.
