Tropical Hurricane Idalia

We've had a soft gentle rain since around 11am this morning.

I'm well past getting a local weather station to monitor my own conditions. Looking at both the Ambient Weather WS-1965 and WS-2092. I like the ground moisture sensing capability of the WS-1965.

The eye went to the south side of Valdosta and the NW rain shield is in Atlanta. Guess there's a 1st for everything. If the eye had gone through Macon we'd probably be seeing rain all the way to Chattanooga.
I'm south of Atlanta right now and no rain, at all from Idalia. If you see it on radar, it's virga.

That video from Moncks Corner on TWC was crazy! Think a tornado flipped a car into another car in front of the guy videoing!

Even though the radar didn't have any returns, it's been raining since Noon. Now it's a very solid steady rain for the last hour. Definitely think 1-2" is likely here.

Was Goose Creek, my mistake! Still amazing video

Yesterday, I had to fly back to Fort Lauderdale Airport from Charlotte, NC at 5PM. We almost didn't make it. We were sitting on the tarmac at the gate until 7:30PM cause of thunderstorm, and the pilot told us that airports from Tampa to West Palm Beach were shutting down. We lucked out! My construction crew in Spartanburg, SC is reporting heavy thunderstorms. The Savannah crew is reporting a lot of wind and no power. A lot of the Florida Peninsula was spared a much stronger storm due to the Westward track. Another 50 miles to the East, and SE Florida would have contended with Tropical Storm conditions.

Goose Creek on Camelot Dr near US52 (S. Goose Creek Blvd) near Stokes Mitsubishi dealership.. That happened about a mile from where I reside. Now I know why I heard all the sirens earlier. Reported by Emergency Manager at 1226pm this afternoon.(first heavy band that came thru the area)

That right there shows the scariest thing about a tornado in a tropical system. You often don’t see it until it’s right on top of you because the rain is so heavy

Yeah, it was a brief weak spin up tornado strong enough to flip that vehicle like a kids toy.
Some nasty cells offshore. Suspect we will see a few tornados as the evening progresses as these lines come into the grand strand and cape fear region

The scariest part about it is that warnings aren't fast enough, and an innumerable amount of cells with tornadic potential. When we received a tornado from Ian last year, I gave my family a 15 minute warning before the tornado hit, and then about five minutes later our fifth Tornado Warning was blasted on our phones. It was insane. Couldn't tell which way it was coming towards us, because the winds were changing direction so fast.
