Tropical Hurricane Dorian

Looks like some decent winds developing on the backside of this, but not as far inland as the hi-res models indicated. Gusted up to 70mph in Cherry Point this morning.
 
And we lost power at 7:05

At RDU, the highest hourly wind gust was 37. Perhaps they got as high as about 40 for all times? Did anyone see two meter wind gust forecasts for there? If so, how did they compare to 37-40?

Just gusted to 36 at KIXA (5 miles from my house), unfortunately when I moved my weather station off the roof I had to place it in a much lower spot and we're basically surrounded by trees on 3 sides, so I'm not gonna have very accurate wind readings.

Power is on and working. Erwin seemed to get the lesser of the two evils. Rain was VERY heavy last night. But, we are OK. :)

I heard Gaston got so much wind last night the weather station was knocked out.

Might be true, oddly enough there were nearly 1k people without power in my county and I doubt wind gust overnight ever got over 30. Honestly they are stronger now though

That's not good. We only have 700 people without power.

Rain and wind forecast were pretty spot on for RDU.
 
Wake County wasted a school day. I agree the safety of the kids come first, but they could have went with a one hour delay to see how things would be this morning, and then call it if it was worse.
 
Looking at the Raleigh radar estimate, I ended up near 4". Had some gusts probably in the 30s to low 40s.

Wasted 2 days. We didn't used to close for rain and partly cloudy skies when I was in school.
