Tropical Hurricane Dorian

HRRR wind gusts, these have been increasing each run.

That's high impact wind gust if it verifies, seems most short term models are not backing down from those strong winds on the west side a good bit from the center too

While overdone at times they are useful for picking up on areas where a wind max may occur and all models, even globals, have a band developing along or east of I-95 that could have some enhanced winds of 55+ imo. It's one of those things that COULD happen but depends on final track and degree of mixing of the winds to the surface.

So, probably a cat 2 at least right over the OBX tomorrow night?

It is about to get wild.

5 run trend of the GFS. Notice any enhancement on the west side of the system? It's finally picking up on the band of intense winds on the NW side of the storm the meso models have been showing.

I know it's late, but kinda silence up in here with a cat 3 sitting off the coast.

00z HMON approaches SC with a lowest pressure of 948 with a SC landfall north of Charleston. Path relatively the same as 18z, but a much larger storm. It expanded.

Looks like we got some nasty super cells about to come ashore just north of Myrtle.

I’m in Summerton ( Eastern Midlands) in SC and it’s been raining since 1am and winds have gust to 36 mph. I am also 65 miles inland .

Not sure of the exact wind speed, but something massive hit around 4:30 and has been going on since then. Very strong winds, and lots of green lightning from transformers blowing out right now. We lost power about 4:50. Storm mode just began for a lot of people.

3knam is stuck on the same track up through NC with a very strong and damaging hurricane. IF IF IF it's right power outages will be bad for everyone from I95 to the east.
