Pattern Hotober

Going back the past 15 or so years the last Sept/Oct that was this dry in the SE was 2013. Looks bleak coming up the next couple of weeks too.

Decent model consensus that most CAD areas will see their high temp Saturday morning (~70) and then dropping a 3-4 degrees throughout the day. If cloud cover cooperates, this could certainly happen, but that's a big if

KCLT is already reporting 86F, we're 4F warmer than this time yesterday. 100F starting to seem less avoidable at this rate.

KATL was already up to an amazing 88 at 11 AM on October 3rd!! Let that sink in, folks. This is textbook surreal. Even if this were way back on Sept 3 instead of Oct 3, an 88 would highly likely not be far from, if not at about, record levels for that hour! The record high for 9/3 is 98 (1925). The next hottest on Sep 3 were several 95 highs, which likely had no hotter 11 AMs than 88. If I were a betting man, I’d say 1925 was the only Sep 3rd on record with 88+ by 11 AM. And by the way, the avg Sep 3 high is only 86.

Like for KCLT, temps are ~4 hotter than 24 hours ago in most of N GA including 4 at KATL. And KATL just set a new alltime Oct record high of 96 yesterday!! We’re living in very special times that will make for great stories to tell one’s grandkids down the road.

Last year's September looks good all the sudden compared to this!

Like @GaWx mentioned, this is an amazing stretch. I am past being ready for the cooler weather. However, stepping back and just seeing what is occurring, this is a once in a lifetime (I hope!) event. While the Blizzard of 93 was amazing, in some ways, this current event is every bit as amazing, and is some ways, probably more so.

Yes, I want the fall weather - and ultimately some snow, but what a remarkable stretch this has been for so late in the season! I don't ever recall seeing record temps which simply shatter the old record temps by several degrees. And that is why I love the weather ... and visiting this site. Again, I am grateful for the resident experts who share their knowledge with those of us who are just weather geeks!

I hate to quote JB, but he is correct ... you need to enjoy the weather, it is the only weather you got!

My goodness

And at KATL, it rose from 8 at 11 AM's 88 to an amazing 92 already at noon. The record high for one month earlier, Sept 3, is 98, which believe it or not, looks to be challenged! That's right, the record high for one month earlier looks to be challenged!! I can't get over this amazing stretch of wx and today may turn out to be the most amazing of the amazing stretch. Some of our grand and great grandparents likely talked about how they had to endure the great late heat of Sep., 1925. Now we'll have that same opportunity to talk about the great very late heat of 2019!

I agree. This is the most impressive weather event in our lifetime. I bet there hasnt been this kind of heat in the last 500 years !

This CAD looks like one of those where’s it gonna be full of low clouds and drizzle, especially the more west you go, you know it’s been terrible when you want drizzle, but anyways that moist layer at lower levels will allow those low clouds 4AFE4409-B2E0-4DE7-9263-54D8F6202ACD.jpeg

That's what we like to see.

Ya know, I mean why not? There are really no adjectives to describe how crazy it would be for the all time record to have occurred in October

I still think 93 was more impressive in my opinion. I’m sure we will see a drought like this again but 93 was more rare.

Obviously that's no going to happen, we will run out of daylight but if we would've just had this ridge in July.... what could've been

KCLT beat the record high of 91F at 1145am. Lol. Temp has held steady near 93F for most of the last hour while the dewpoint continues to fall towards the 50s. This is actually a "dry" heat if there ever was one for NC.
