Can people explain why people are so strongly influenced and angered by Chris Justus? People straight up flaming him on Twitter. My thing is who cares, if the man wants to go a different route than you let him… he’s a vet TV met and you’re a hobbyist. But saying he needs his credentials taken? Flaming him publicly ? Who cares that much man

It's really petty, tbh. You can speculate and explore the possibilities about anything - investing, sports, politics, entertainment, pop culture, health, music, the environment, etc. But oh man, you'd better not step outside the boundaries set forth by the weather police and post a 7 day operational map or worse yet, make a forecast based on that.
I have yet to hear a compelling reason why someone should be so maligned for doing that.
Because they're a pro met and they should know better? Garbage. It's data and they can use it however they want. If they end up wrong enough, people will learn, and they'll lose credibility. The problem fixes itself.
Because people will be led astray? Hogwash. If people are not smart enough to learn who is good vs who is not, that's on the people. The general public must assume responsibility for what they consume.
Because it creates questions that other mets have to answer? Poppycock. They're going to have to do that anyway. The data is out there, everywhere. It's not going back in the box. It is the way it is now, and you can complain about it till the cows come home, but you're still going to have to deal with it anyway.
Because the public will get confused about what is real information and a real forecast vs a 7 day snowfall map that's unlikely to verify? Bulljive. That's on the people, and that's also the case across virtually every topic you encounter on the internet. People need to be smarter. If they're not, that's on them.
Because it keeps people from being prepared when real weather problems arise? Fake news. Those are the people who most likely aren't going to take action anyway. I don't know why we feel the need to cater to the lowest common denominator when it comes to weather. It's really weird.
The actual real reason is that there is a tremendous amount, an unbelievable amount, an overwhelming amount of arrogance in the weather community writ large, which is astonishing given that this is one of the most humbling fields one can go into. How dare someone suggest a 10 day GFS map could be right! They should be stripped, STRIPPED I say, and banished from every being allowed to discuss weather ever again! Yes, they're going to be wrong. Just chill and let them be wrong. That's literally ALL you have to do. It's really that easy. It really is.
If Chris Justice wants to stupidly predict snowstorms in the face of overwhelming evidence against and look like a fool, just stand aside, have a coke and a smile, and let him go down in flames. Cheers, Chris!
