Misc General Banter Thread

It's crazy how different things are for VA, KY and TN versus NC when it comes to winter weather.
crazy how different things can be for N. Iredell vs S.Iredell tbh. Change that to S.Mecklenburg and you’re talking literally two different climates. This is all what makes us so intrigued by Mother Nature.

I grew up in the middle of Iredell .. it was wild how there could be a dusting along the Meck Co line and 8" on the Yadkin Co line. That happened a lot in the 80s and 90s.

IF,, you dig deeper..
There's IS a soil & Climate aspect to this also.. (Talking about the Sand hills Et. Al.. )

Iredell wx has always intrigued me. Being in Cabarrus County near the Speedway the summers particularly blow my mind.
Iredell pretty much gets frequent rain showers and storms. The line of storms may make it to far NW Cabarrus but I’m telling you something happenes after that and I’m blaming 85, Concord Mills and the Soeedway.!! lol. Something happens to storms and snow all the time when they get near that area.

It’s a different world in Mooresvile vs like Love Valley / Union Grove / Harmony. I’d say those areas have same climo or close as Frosty. If I’m not mistaken not just the 40 miles of extra latitude but Love Valley is like 1500’ elevation, mooresville is around 950-975

Even out here nothing to report 💤

Probably won't even have a freeze this upcoming week. We were near zero last weekend

And someone just mentioned 4 of our top 5 snowiest days are in March haha

It’s just really hard to get cold down this time of year anymore, that bulge of warm holds on and it’s just too late in the season (west of the apps) to break it. Mississippi for instance, if we don’t get anything before the first week of February it’s over. Gonna have some lows below freezing yes a couple of times but 0 chance of getting winter weather this late. Just look at the models, those 60s-70s just to hard to break down. Flowers and trees will be blooming 😊. I’m glad you guys in N Carolina and S Carolina can get snow in February and even March!! That would be crazy, good luck guys. IMG_2387.jpeg

It is definitely looking above average daytime highs the next 2 weeks but showing at or below freezing for me 7 of those nights. And this coming week a few days in the upper 40s. Don’t think anything is on the horizon, but also the day of the recent big snowstorm we thought 7” tops which would have been amazing in and of itself. Ended up with 13”.

All this to say that with all of the technology we have. Mother Nature will do what Mother Nature will do.

You are pretty far N in Mississippi so I wouldn’t say 0 chances just yet. For any of us.

Despite being in a similar/same USDA climate zone as us east of the mountains I've always noticed spring seems to start almost a month earlier in places like Montgomery/Tuscaloosa/Meridian. The wedge days and cold ocean water (currently 41F) delay spring just a bit in areas north of Charleston or Columbia unless we have wall to wall warmth. My personal barometer has always been the oak trees. I've seen them leafing out many times in late February down there in the "deep south."

This is a weather board and it is very hard to beat ANY team when you only get 1 foul called in the entire 2nd half. I can't stand either of those teams but that one was rigged
Don’t think the refs made the 3 pointer!???
