Misc General Banter Thread

I think I’m starting to realize that all trends are bad trends in the southeast. S/W further west, bad. S/W East, Bad. PV South, bad. PV North, bad. New piece of energy in the flow, bad. Slower, bad. Faster, you guessed it…bad. 6.3 magnitude Earthquake in Japan causing a shift in the North American tectonic plate 3 centimeters south, bad.

Its just model watchers trying the hardest to get the snow back, the denial will settle soon.

Are you talking about just snow? Because every single model shows a major / historic storm for RDU right now. Even the ones who didn’t like the UKMET (which seems awful at the surface in CAD setups) have folded to that now. I for one also enjoy sleet. I’d rather have snow but you can’t win them all.

Don’t forget a forecaster here being named Mitch West instead of Mitch East affecting the primary LP track

At this point in our area of Charlotte I think we are looking at ice, it’s just whether it is the freezing rain or sleet form. Pretty much seems locked in for us j less we have some huge changes.
 
I remember the days when nowcasting didn’t start until the storm was within hour 6 of the NAM. (At least that’s what it felt like.) With these models, you might as well start nowcasting at hour 192 of the GFS. 🤣 I think I’m moving to tea leaves and pig entrails from here on out. LOL

In all honesty if prior storms are any indication this comes in weaker than expected and that helps. We are always praying for interactions from pieces of energy out west and it almost always seems to let us down. Now we are wanting the opposite. I’m at least hoping for this as it would hopefully get me to sleet instead of so much freezing rain. Or it can just keep going to crap and for me all rain…either way lol

Are we going to pull off a repeat of the Fab Feb 2014 backside ULL that destroyed the NC foothills and wasn’t really forecasted at all?
 
The hopium in the Piedmont has now switched to a backside thump. Snowpocalypse to Sleetfest to Frontside Thump to Backside Thump. It's only Wednesday.
