Misc General Banter Thread

I'd say a lot of the problem is a lack of a -NAO. I know the PNA is just as important, but most of our cold recently has been EPO driven. And with that we fight a SER or either Vodka cold that suppresses everything and shears out. Its a very fine line. And when they're not suppressed they are late bloomers like you said. That is what usually happens with northern stream garbage as I call it. There is almost no room for error with those. They either dig just right and tilt just right at the right time or you lose. This area needs a -NAO and and active STJ and stout PNA ridge. Unpopular opinion but the La Ninas can take a hike

We’re in a strong -NAO now:

I kinda agree. One year snowless is hard, but it happens now. Never thought 2 in a row would happen, until it did! Then surely not a chance in hell of 3! But, then it kinda did. Surely no way it happens again this winter!
The more I’m looking at the models and seeing VA as the hot spot I might change my mind and say hang it up.

Its climo guys wtf
Anything down here is bonus this early

Thats true. The biggest thing against us right now is the calendar. The -PNA doesn't help either. pna.gefs.sprd2 (1).png
But, I was mainly speaking of the last few years and what we've battled here in the upstate for what feels like forever now. Give me a +PNA, -NAO and and active STJ in peak climo, and hold it for more than a couple days, and I'd bet it'd snow along I85. This year has a different feel to it no doubt. It's started way better than the last few it seems. But one thing that likely will still be absent this year is the active STJ. That's giving me pause from guaranteeing we'll break the snow drought

Fixed it for you....

Expecting it to correct to the +PNA like it has for the last month.

Talk to me @Stevo24 for 2 years I got absolutely nothing. Last year I got 0.5"
Do you think maybe this is the year I get 1 whole inch? Or should I go ahead and hang it up for the winter?
Man its getting tougher every year that passes it seems in this state. Hopefully later in December and January can pan out. Personally im over the 35-40 degree rain phase 8's...

1000% correct...have to have blocking for us to score

Everybody getting excited in the December thread... but here in SC we can't even get in on fantasy snow...😭

Ha my Texas friends are melting down because they were promised a cold December and it's not cold and not gonna be cold anytime soon

Kind of ironic when it's been cold up here and especially in Arkansas

Also technically besides an icy road and a few flakes there's been nothing here in the city

Seriously we average 9 inches here(Charlotte is about half that) and two years in a row we had a snow hole during a winter storm warning aka last minute so I mean it falls apart a lot down here. It's part of life

Parts of Virginia are a totally different story

In order for this forecast for Dec 11-15 to verify it’s going to have to get really cold from Dec 13-15 because Dec 11 and 12 look very warm. View attachment 178141View attachment 178142
You live in South Georgia. Those are near or even below normal for Americus.

You live in South Georgia. That's nowhere near a torch.
