Misc General Banter Thread

It has been MLK weekend here the last couple years but it's never been a big storm it's always been light snow and then extremely cold haha(a high of 6 in 2024 one of the coldest days on record here)

The Gulf storm was then last year though
 
It was great to wake up and read about great 0z runs. As per usual, the 6z runs don’t look as good to me so far. I do like that we are actually able to look at surface maps instead of teleconnections. A better pattern is coming in range! Here’s hoping for good trends today and we get a BOOMing fantasy run!

So maybe I’m immature, the hand shake line I walk by and fist bump but don’t say anything bc I don’t respect him. He laughs and says “Aww come on man don’t be like that” I ignore him and walk out of the gym to address my team. If he wasn’t known for this bs for years and hand picking girls that weren’t available to everyone it would be different. We had a dad Kicked out bc they’re rough, very rough and they tackled his daughter. He stood up and pointed at him yelling “every F’ing year with this bs every F’ing year” and they escorted him out. Idk be honest am I being a baby ? If it wasn’t young girls in a rec league I wouldn’t care, but this isn’t AAU man, some of these girls have never played before this year.

You're not wrong. Even in the NBA, the put in the scrubs after the lead gets big enough. Dude probably has a microweiner
 
Every single map with snow or cold is continuing to stay over 240+ hours out and I feel like it’s been like that for 2-3 weeks now. I’m the biggest sunshine pumper there is but it’s getting old. I still have hope but we’ve all seen this song and dance for years.
 
Even out here it's been fantasy land and yeah I mean I fully expect something at some point(I mean I had to go back a very long time to find a winter it never really snowed that nobody today was around for) but can we come on already... I'm beyond tired of all the posts about where is winter online

I would have fouled them every possession until all the players were fouled out. Let them shoot free throws until you run out of players

Bush league. I once coached middle school football (7th and 8th graders) with a guy in 2016 (a staff of 5), whom was the defensive coordinator of our team (I was the offensive coordinator), and the dude was barely at practice. When he was at practice; he hardly if ever taught anything. All he basically did was blitz and blitz some more. It worked at times, while other times it didn't work. I don't care if it worked all the time as I thought it was crass and didn't teach the kids anything about how to play the game.

I'm all about fundamentals and then casually adding "other aspects" to the game. I'd never coach again with that dude. Like others have stated, I would've fouled his team like crazy. Hacked away.

As encouraging as the 0z runs were last night they still didn't depict anything for the upstate. There was legit cold to the North but just not enough penetration South. Verbatim, that would have been yet another heartbreaker for this area.

He left that job in March of last year. He was only there for about a year. It looks like he was laid off.

So nobody there verbally assaulted this man? The words that would have come out of my mouth would have had me thrown out, and it would have been far worse then what the other gentlemen you mentioned said.

If one were to look back at readily available NG price history, he/she would see that general price movements have actually been pretty heavily correlated to the actual E US temperature anomalies of each winter. I’ve been closely following this market for 28 years, but anyone can see the data and then compare to how temperatures were for each season. That’s because the actual demand/usage of NG in winter is the #1 variable in determining where NG prices go in the general sense as @tennessee storm succinctly said.

In a nutshell, significantly colder/warmer than normal E US winters usually result in rising/falling prices through the winter.

6.5” was a good event to get the very last snow we’ll ever get at GSP 🙏🏽 I got 13” up in Hendersonville during that storm and I’ve been in the middle of some foot + storms in Avery county since then but it’s hard to beat snow at home. We may never see it again. You hear that Mother Nature? You just can’t do it like you used to

In my back yard it's been 3 years. January 22 was the last time we got a true winter storm (miller B), 2 inch snow/2 inches of sleet. Before that it was probably 2018?

In between, we've gotten a few hit and miss 1 inchers.

While both are staggering, that Asheville number is mind boggling.

Even mby has had 7.5" during that time period. 2/2020 (2.5") 1/2022 (2") 1/2025 (3")

That storm as many others should’ve taught me w/e the mix line is showing as “safe” on models … take it north 30-40 miles N/NW and that’s the true Safe ALL SNOW zone. Even in Iredell for us

So, ATL is progged to be at ~+6 for 12/31-1/15 vs BAM’s -1 to -2.

RDU actual 12/31-1/5 is 0. Forecast for 1/6-10 is +16 and for 1/11-15 is +2.
So, RDU is progged to be ~+5.5 for 12/31-1/15 vs BAM’s -1 to -2.

Thus, BAM is projected to end up too cold for 12/31-1/15 at ATL and RDU by a whopping 6.5-8 F meaning a much too cold first half of Jan.

This is one of his video's I actually watched, he was pretty smug and confident because this was right before that very brief cold shot we had to end December.

They did a poor job for the first half of Jan throughout the E US, which they had mostly BN. This 12/30 video’s 12/31-1/15 forecast image (see below) had Chicago at -3 to -4. Chicago is projected to be ~+5 meaning 8-9 too cold. It had much of the SE -1 to -2 and they’re largely headed to +5 to +6.

So, in summary, they had a BN E US and it’s going to end up solidly AN.

Quite honestly, that is pretty terrible considering that business exists as a private enterprise. Perhaps he should tone down his rhetoric a bit and put on a tie.
 
With performance like this, I'd ignore BAM from now on. They could have done better by forecasting climo.
