Misc General Banter Thread

I personally feel pretty good about the CSRA, but I am thinking in terms of 2-3" that sticks around for several days as a success. Even with model oscillations, it has not been hard to find 2"+ totals for the Augusta area over the last 2 days of model runs.

Yeah, CAE is fairly clearly going to issue a warning for the entire viewing area unless something strange happens overnight. My point and click is at 3.1" and up near you is near 4".

Still a bit worried though. This is going to be a similar event to last year and that event really struggled without the banding. It at least isn't going to be 3/2009 in that snow should fly, but it could probably be a deal where some struggle to get more than a dusting to an inch and whoever gets the best banding could possibly even get up to 5".

Yeah, admittedly I spoke too early on this. I was euro ticked east in that last run, but the precip shield was west… I like where we sit. Let it hold!!!!

Alright I’m finally in on this storm for the coastal plains. Was worried about the coastal low not hitting the benchmark but I think we’ll be okay. Looking forward to shoveling the driveway and sidewalk again. Don’t get to do that every year!

One of these years I’ll be around for something exciting. I was in Okinawa during the 2000 blast. I was on ship in 2003 prepping for SWA deuce. The only good snow I’ve seen was when I was on recruiting duty, stationed in Kannapolis for the 2010 Christmas and few 2011 snows that winter! Every other year I’ve been geographically out while being in state. I don’t count 2022 or last year because they didn’t add u to a tape measurer!

Have decided to visit family in Augusta this weekend. Seems like potential banding is aimed for somewhere in east-central Georgia so hoping we can get in on that action. If not, looks like a big event for the area regardless. This all reminds me of being a kid watching the weather channel before the 2010 snow :)

I wish y'all luck this weekend and hope y'all get buried

But I'm so glad I can sit on the sidelines and watch from afar after last weekend here haha

I still can't believe that mess was so overhyped like the next apocalypse 😜

We already had warnings 48 hours before a flake fell! It's been funny to see no watches over there yet
How much did you end up with Brent?

The bittercasting and haterology from @SD will be monumental over the coming weeks. I'm ready for 96 with a dewpoint of 76View attachment 191306

RDU peeps when everyone else is saying "we're under a death band".

Latest RAH AFD has quite a typo 👀

Light snow may begin as early as Friday afternoon across the
northwest Piedmont, gradually expanding west to east through Friday
evening and night. Initial impacts may be limited, with more
significant snowfall developing later Friday overnight as the upper
low deepens and passes south of the area while the surface low
strengthens just off the coast. Snowfall is expected to become more
widespread and persistent on Saturday and Saturday night, with the
heaviest snowfall currently favored across eastern portions of
central NC Saturday afternoon into early evening. As the stacked
lows pull offshore late Saturday night, snow will taper from west to
east, ending first across the northwest Piedmont late overnight
Saturday and then clearing the Coastal Plain shortly after sunrise
Sunday. Strong cold advection will follow, with northwest wind gusts
increasing to 2535 mph early Sunday morning, highest in the east.
Snow totals are expected to range from around 2 inches area-wide to
localized amounts of 6 inches or more, with blowing snow possible
Saturday night into Sunday.

Can someone recommend a great hotel in central downtown Charlotte that is in a safe neighborhood near a park?
Since I live here I’m not as familiar with the hotels, but I would say the South Park Mall area is pretty safe and has quite a few hotels. Not downtown but it’s more of an urban area without much crime. It’s also fairly walkable with some parks nearby.
