Misc General Banter Thread

People seem to be way more stressed out than they were prior to Helene. Everyone’s just driving around not knowing what this place is gonna look like 48 hours from now. Similar to Helene except now they’re given the task of not freezing to death. High anxiety weather event

I hope we are all spared. It seems like we could go a little lower on ice. I’m not sure anyone really knows though what the fina outcome will be.

That's the worst part of it not knowing. My storm anxiety is much higher now especially after Helene. My wife is dependent so I have to take care of her. It makes things much more worse. I am prepared as well I guess as I can be for 4 or 5 days with Generator, propane logs, And food and stuff. But even knowing you not going hungry and should be able to stay warm it still sends that anxiety through the roof! Be glad when it's over and hope it's not as bad as thought

Fascinating battle in Atlanta between the NWS and different METs. Lots of veterans seem to just expect the CAD to be a lot stronger while others have really cut down on the forecast. Exciting battle royal!
This area may actually be well above forecast highs in a couple of hours, getting close to the 50s, and dewpoints aren't really dropping all that much.

Why is Fox weather increasing they're snow footprint across upstate? They now showing 1-3" and earlier they were showing less than 1"

Hot take, but one I’ve always noticed. Hard hitting cad events like this are usually a few hours behind schedule, but usually have more potency when they get here than predicted.

I'm gonna be honest I wouldn't be a bit surprised if those storms around the gulf ribs moisture around here. Still could be orograpic lift across upstate to keep it up some. But Precip amounts could be much lower. Something to watch

I am very thankful for the cold forecast this week. Our refrigerator went out again yesterday (never buy a Samsung) so we can keep a cooler on the porch with the perishables until the new one comes Friday. Thank God I have the little mini fridge too.

Do the AI models have any sort of run to run smoothing built into them? I notice how they don’t jump around with things like QPF nearly as much as the physics based models. Maybe that’s just because they’re that superior, but I imagine there’s more at play as it’s not like they haven’t shifted south over the last couple days; there’s just rarely any big jumps run to run, it takes longer to adjust.

Anyone? Class… anyone?

Where’s Tennesseestorm? Tornadic kidney beans and severe thundersleet and gorilla hail incoming…

Midwestern posters all excited in another forum. Laughing at what happened here and what looks to happen in the Mid-Atlantic. Their biggest snows can't rival East Coast storms in any way. Bunch of weenies.

His stache game was so strong. Like Burgundy strong. Loved the battles between cook and burns. I’m a throwback to a more gentler time, a in air met named Guy Sharp. How can you not trust a forecast from someone with that name?

I’m telling on myself here, but I clearly timber Sharp and also Johnny Beckman (WSB)

Johnny Beckman. Wow that’s a flash back to very early childhood! Haven’t heard those names in a very long time. I miss the days of watching local news or getting a segment from Kirk Mellish on wsb radio for all my winter storm updates as a kid.

FFC forecast for my area in the northeast part of Gwinnett county. They have us in the upper 20s from Midnight to Noon. Hope this is overdone becuase if this happens there probably wont be power for a few days.IMG_1333.jpeg
